Job Description

Job Title: Exercise Sciences Full-Time Faculty CFS Professorial

Posting Close Date: October 1 2025

Position Start Date: August 1 2026

Required Degree: PhD - earned doctoral degree in Exercise Sciences or a related discipline. The required degree must be completed by the start date.

Department Description: The Department of Exercise Sciences is a thriving department with 2000 undergraduate students majoring in Exercise Sciences or Exercise and Wellness within the College of Life Sciences. Faculty research expertise in the department is diverse and includes active programs in the areas of orthopedic rehabilitation athletic training biomechanics exercise physiology and exercise and wellness. The department offers MS and PhD programs in Exercise Sciences and a Master of Athletic Training program. The department is committed to providing high-quality teaching and mentoring experiences to undergraduate and graduate students.

Experience: Eligible candidates must possess a doctoral degree in Exercise Sciences or a related discipline and demonstrate a strong potential for quality teaching and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students. Individuals applying at the rank of Associate or Full Professor should possess a record of high-quality scholarship and effective student mentoring. Preference will be given to individuals with Exercise and Wellness related expertise including contributing to an emerging interdisciplinary curriculum and facilitating development of certification and credentialing opportunities within the Exercise and Wellness curriculum. Applicants should have a strong desire to effectively teach and mentor undergraduate and graduate students in the classroom laboratory and through other experiential learning opportunities. As external funding helps support research and mentoring evidence of either having received or applied for external research funding will strengthen the application.

Duties/Expectations: It is expected that the new faculty member will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in areas related to Introduction to Exercise Sciences Exercise is Medicine Lifestyle and Chronic Disease Prevention Stress Management Obesity and Weight Management Worksite Health Promotion Personal Training Strategies and Exercise Prescription. The new faculty member will maintain an active research program and involve undergraduate and graduate students. Their research program will result in 1) regular presentations at scientific conferences 2) a consistent record of peer-reviewed publications in reputable professional/scholarly journals and 3) efforts to obtain external funding to support their research. It is also expected that they will be involved in university and community service and actively engaged with professional organizations at the regional and national levels.
