About the Role


As a Communications Engineer within Babcocks High Frequency Network (HFN) team youll play a key role in the design testing and integration of the Enhanced Defence High Frequency Communications System.

Youll be responsible for applying systems engineering principles to complex hardware and communications solutions supporting key Defence programs that directly contribute to national security and mission readiness.

Youll work across the full engineering product lifecycle and collaborate with subsystem design teams IV&V teams suppliers and contractors to ensure smooth product delivery and integration both in the lab and on operational sites.

About You

Youre a degree-qualified engineer with experience in systems or communications engineering and youre confident working independently while knowing when to seek guidance on more complex issues.

Your ability to apply engineering theory to real-world problems sets you apart and you bring a passion for continuous improvement technical accuracy and delivering high-quality solutions.

Your strong communication skills and attention to detail enable you to contribute effectively to technical discussions tender evaluations and design reviews.

Most importantly youre driven by a sense of purpose and pride in contributing to Defence capability through innovative engineering.

To be successful in this position you will bring:

Relevant experience in relatable technical/engineering roles.

Working knowledge of the design analysis test and support techniques associated with electronic equipment.

Understanding of techniques and technologies that may interface with electronic equipment.

An understanding of applicable engineering toolsets (e.g. PLM or MRP systems design simulation and analysis software)

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to lead a small team to achieve desired results.
