Job Description

iGov is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Database Administrator (DBA) - Senior Level to provide all activities related to the administration of computerized databases.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide all activities related to the administration of computerized databases.
  • Project long-range requirements for database administration and design in conjunction with other managers in the information systems function. Designs creates and maintains databases in a client/server environment.
  • Conduct quality control and auditing of databases in a client/server environment to ensure accurate and appropriate use of data. Advises users on access to various client/server databases.
  • Design implement and maintain complex databases with respect to JCL access methods access time device allocation validation checks organization protection and security documentation and statistical methods.
  • Apply knowledge and experience with database technologies development methodologies and front-end /back-end programming languages (e.g. SQL).
  • Perform database programming and supports systems design. Includes maintenance of database dictionaries overall monitoring of standards and procedures file design and storage and integration of systems through database design.
  • Implement database load for Development Test Production and Disaster Recovery/Continuity of Operations environments.
  • Load and analyze schemas scripts and other data sources into Oracle databases and PostgreSQL databases as required.
  • Conduct performance tuning of schemas scripts SQL statements and other internal database-related activities as required.
  • Collaborate and assist developers in application performance tuning.
  • Troubleshoot database-related issues often requiring time-sensitive responses and proactive communication.
  • Monitor application growth to ensure optimum database performance and availability.
  • Give detailed technical direction to application developers and stakeholders on database modifications or changes.Develop data dictionaries data models metadata repositories tables keys indices normalized data and other database configuration design features as required.
  • Assist Government with application database documentation creating SOPs and knowledge articles related to database management.
  • Provide consultation and knowledge sharing on database requirements for new and existing projects.
  • Assist with database aspects of Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) or other disaster recovery activities and projects as required.
  • Assist in finding researching documenting and remediating application cybersecurity-related findings pertaining to the database.
  • Create primary database objects (tables views indices).
  • Modify primary database objects as necessary based on information from application developers.
  • Update and maintain database standards and conventions with respect to the application.
  • Resolve database scheduling operational and change control problems and procedures.
  • Provide application response and availability as needed to support database applications from a database perspective.
  • Perform other daily Application Database Administrator activities as assigned.

Essential Required Experience & Skills:

  • Five (5) years of progressive experience of database query languages such as Oracle PL SQL SQL Server and MS Access.
  • Three (3) years of hands-on experience and expertise in Relational Database Management Systems.
  • Experience also shall include capability to work on various operating systems and additional programming languages.
  • Has experience in at least two projects in a large organization responsible for administering operating maintaining and securing a large-scale computer database.
  • Must possess IT-I Critical Sensitive security clearance or Tier 5 (T5) at time of proposal submission.
  • Clearance: Secret

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelors preferred but not required.
  • DoD Approved 8570 Baseline Certification: Category IAT Level II.
