Qualifications: Valid Oklahoma Teachers Certification; endorsement to teach Instrumental Music with
Percussion emphasis or specialty.
Reports to: Building Principal(s) District Coordinator of Instrumental Music
Job Goal: To develop in each student an application of the art of music as a part of general culture; to
teach techniques of instrumental music expression; to discover talents of students in the field of music; to
teach appropriate practice and playing habits; to teach music theory history and pedagogy as it relates to
performing in the traditional/modern marching and wind band setting.
Performance Responsibilities:
*Collaborate with the District Coordinator of Instrumental Music on matters of curriculum scheduling
budgeting instrument distribution etc.
*Organize all instructional materials for 7th grade band.
*Obtain suitable playing level for the second phase of the Durant Band Program.
*Instruct students in citizenship and basic subject matter as it relates to instrumental music.
*Utilizes repertoire of all types of music literature that are proper for the ages and skill levels of students.
*Establishes standards of student behavior to offer a productive environment during rehearsals
performances contests etc.
*Indentifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff in assessing and helping students
solve health attitude and learning problems.
*Assist with Intermediate School Band.
*Assist with Middle School Band.
*Assist with Durant High Band.
