The W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University invites applications for the position of Director of its School of Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship (TIE) at the academic rank of Associate/Full Professor with tenure starting Fall 2025. Applicants may apply with a background in any business related discipline (including Accounting Economics Finance Information Systems Management Marketing and Supply Chain Management) which will be your tenure home.
The Director of the School of TIE will provide visionary leadership to advance the schools mission of fostering innovation entrepreneurship and community engagement. The role encompasses strategic oversight of academic programs community initiatives faculty development and partnerships with external stakeholders particularly in the West Valley region of the Phoenix metro area. The ideal candidate will be passionate about student success entrepreneurial engagement and interdisciplinary collaboration.

The School of Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship (TIE) at Arizona State Universitys W. P. Carey School of Business is a dynamic academic unit dedicated to advancing interdisciplinary learning and fostering innovation. Launched as part of the West Valley Forward initiative TIE emphasizes the integration of technology and entrepreneurship to meet the evolving needs of students and the business community.
Academic Programs: The School of TIE offers innovative degree programs that emphasize data analytics skills and support experiential learning for all students pursuing W. P. Carey degrees at the West Valley campus. These programs help students develop an entrepreneurial mindset integrating opportunities for project-based coursework and service in the West Valley.
Community Engagement: Through its research centers and community collaboration TIE works to support the multiple needs of SMBs providing continuing and executive education offerings as well as networking opportunities for learners and professionals in the West Valley.
By combining academic rigor with practical experience the School of TIE prepares students to become leaders in technology-driven business environments contributing to the economic growth and innovation of the West Valley and beyond. Provide strategic direction for the BA in Applied Business and Technology Solutions (BA-TS) BA in Entrepreneurial Leadership (BA-EL) and provide support for MS in Supply Chain Management program.
Develop and refine coursework and syllabi for BA-TS and BA-EL (in-person and online) to incorporate experiential learning leveraging resources from the Center for Small and Medium-sized Businesses (CSMB).
Introduce skill-building components such as data analytics information systems certifications and self-paced courses to enhance student employability.
Collaborate with faculty to influence policy and reframe perceptions of BA-TS and BA-EL as accessible high-value degree programs for students from multicultural academic backgrounds.
Oversee the Community Pillar of the School of TIE that is the Center for Small and Medium-sized Business (SMB)
Foster entrepreneurial and SMB engagement activities to strengthen the WPC West Valley ecosystem for students staff faculty and external partners.
Create bridges for students to engage in real-world opportunities and research in the SMB industry through the Centers initiatives.
Collaborate with chambers of commerce local businesses and community organizations to understand and address regional challenges.
Partner with development offices career services and other departments to devise innovative strategies for student learning and career outcomes.
Establish pathways for students to connect with the Center and its SMB opportunities for internships research and experiential learning.
Actively mentor students and foster a culture of innovation resilience and leadership.
Lead efforts to recruit develop and collaborate with faculty with expertise in entrepreneurship technology supply chain management marketing finance etc for TIE (and Center) efforts.
Promote interdisciplinary collaboration with other schools and departments within ASU.
Identify and secure funding opportunities to support programmatic and community-focused initiatives.
Associate Professor: 1) A Ph. D. in a business administration discipline or a related field 2) Demonstrated ability to publish impactful research in premier scholarly business journals 3) Demonstrated ability to teach effectively at the undergraduate and/or graduate level and 4) Demonstrated leadership experience in academia business or entrepreneurship.
Full Professor: 1) A Ph. D. in a business administration discipline or a related field 2) Demonstrated ability to publish impactful research in premier scholarly business journals 3) Demonstrated ability to teach effectively at the undergraduate and/or graduate level 4) Significant service and contribution to ones academic discipline evidenced by activities such as current or past editorial board memberships of academic journals and leadership roles related to academic conferences and 5) Demonstrated leadership experience in academia business or entrepreneurship.
Experience designing and delivering innovative academic programs.
Strong understanding of experiential learning methodologies and community engagement.
Experience working with both large corporations and small and medium-sized businesses.
Proven ability to secure funding through grants partnerships or fundraising.
Track record of mentoring students and fostering academic and professional growth.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage with multiple stakeholders.
Success in prior leadership roles in a university environment.
Experience building and managing external relationships/partnerships
Demonstrate high levels of collaboration innovation and inclusive practices.
