Job Summary
Synechron is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Base24 Payment Systems Tester to join our Payments Technology team. In this role you will be responsible for testing and validating the Banks Base24 software platform ensuring its stability security and adherence to business requirements. Your expertise will help deliver reliable payment processing systems by designing test cases executing testing procedures and collaborating with development teams to resolve issues. This position contributes directly to maintaining high service quality supporting operational excellence and ensuring compliance within a complex financial environment.
Software Requirements
Required Skills:
- Hands-on experience with testing Base24 platform solutions or similar payment processing systems
- Knowledge of testing tools and automation frameworks relevant to banking and payment software
- Understanding of core banking EFT ATM POS transaction flows
- Experience with SQL or database query tools for data validation and integrity checks
- Familiarity with scripting languages such as Shell Python or equivalent for automation purposes
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with testing tools like HP ALM JIRA or Zephyr
- Exposure to middleware transaction monitoring and backend systems
- Knowledge of industry standards like ISO 20022 ISO 8583 or PCI DSS compliance
Overall Responsibilities
- Develop execute and document test plans and test cases focusing on Base24 functionalities and interfaces
- Validate transaction flows batch processes and integration points within the payment processing system
- Identify report and track defects working closely with development teams to resolve issues
- Ensure system stability performance and compliance with security standards
- Collaborate with business analysts developers and project managers to understand requirements and deliver quality assurance
- Support regression functional and non-functional testing activities
- Contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes and tools
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of testing activities and results
Technical Skills (By Category)
Testing Tools & Frameworks:
- Essential: Experience with payment system testing (e.g. Base24 similar platforms) and defect tracking tools (JIRA ALM)
- Preferred: Automation frameworks scripting languages (Shell Python etc.)
Database & Data Management:
- Essential: Proficiency in SQL or equivalent for data validation and testing
- Preferred: Experience with data reconciliation between systems
Programming & Scripting Languages:
- Preferred: Shell scripting Python or language relevant to automation tasks
Payment & Banking Standards:
- Familiarity with ISO 8583 ISO 20022 PCI DSS (preferred)
Methodologies:
- Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and testing methodologies (Agile Waterfall)
Security & Compliance:
- Understanding of security protocols related to payment systems and regulatory standards
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in software testing specifically in payment or banking systems preferably with Base24 platforms
- Proven track record of testing complex payment processing systems and integrations
- Experience in executing manual and automated test scripts within a financial environment
- Familiarity with databases transaction processing and industry standards
- Experience working in a global or multi-site environment is advantageous
- Alternative experience pathways include related roles in financial services or large-scale enterprise banking systems
Day-to-Day Activities
- Design and review test plans test cases and scripts aligned with project requirements
- Execute testing activities including functional regression and load testing
- Document defects analyze root causes and collaborate with developers for resolution
- Participate in project meetings status reporting and validation reviews
- Conduct data integrity and reconciliation testing
- Support system upgrades patches and configuration changes
- Stay updated on Base24 updates payment standards and industry best practices
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or related field
- Relevant certifications (e.g. ISTQB CSTE) are preferred
- Prior experience in payments processing banking systems or financial technology
- Working knowledge of industry standards such as ISO 8583 ISO 20022 PCI DSS
