Job Description

String Orchestra Teacher - Upper School Grades 7-12

Schedule: 2025-2026 School Year

Status: Part-Time Exempt

Work Schedule:

  • Two classes Monday-Friday; additional time as needed for after-school meetings conferences events and professional development.

Responsibilities of Grade 7-12 String Orchestra teacher:

  • Teach two string orchestra classes.
  • Demonstrate a passion to further develop an established program.
  • Produce high-quality artistic experience working with students in grades 7-12.
  • Create lesson plans based on sound pedagogical methods of instruction.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical social and emotional development of students.
  • Conduct ongoing formal and informal assessments of student achievement.
  • Establish and maintain open communication with parents and students through a variety of means including face-to-face conversations email phone calls and conferences.
  • Integrate technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
  • Maintaining accurate complete and current records of student progress achievement and behavior.
  • Work collaboratively with faculty and staff. This includes but is not limited to working with the music faculty and Director of Fine Arts.

Qualifications:

  • 4-year degree in Music Education.
  • Must be a licensed teacher with 7-12 certification for the State of Ohio with a specialization in instrumental music with a string emphasis or be willing to pursue certification.
  • Possess a minimum of two years of teaching experience or field experience. Experience teaching intermediate to advanced students.
  • Experience working with a learning management system like Canvas.
  • Must be able to integrate faith and learning.
  • Must be a practicing Christian who is comfortable working in a multi-denominational Christian community.
