MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT

Under general direction of the building administrator is responsible for planning providing and evaluating varied learning experiences of students in cooperation with other staff members parents and the public.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Makes long- and short-range plans for each subject area of
  • Plan and implement a program of study following state and district standards that meet the individual needs and abilities of the students by providing effective differentiated instruction using research-based practices
  • Teach elementary content in both Spanish and English with a high degree of skill.
  • Teach in a 90/10 bilingual instructional program that meets the students individual academic and linguistic needs and makes modifications when necessary.
  • Implement instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for achieving stated objectives for instruction and student success including use of technology.
  • Participate with other staff to cooperatively plan develop and implement a course of instruction designed to meet the needs of students in all curriculum areas.
  • Collaborate with colleagues administrators students and parents for the purpose of improving the quality of student performance developing solutions and planning curriculum.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • Baccalaureate degree in Education or related
  • Valid Washington State teaching certificate appropriate for assignment with an endorsement in Elementary Education.
  • Bilingual and biliterate in Spanish and English. Advanced native-like fluency in Spanish required (reading writing and speaking); native Spanish speakers preferred.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Thorough knowledge of subject areas
  • Ability to demonstrate Spanish/English effective written and oral communications with diverse community members to include students staff parents and community members.
  • Ability to teach Spanish language & literacy and the cross-linguistic transference to achieve bilingualism and biliteracy goals.

Certification and Licenses

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION

  • Masters Degree
  • Experience in literacy instruction
  • English as a Second Language (ESL) English Language Learner (ELL) or Bilingual Education endorsement.
  • Experience as an ESL Dual Language or ELL Teacher at the elementary level.
  • Advanced level proficiency in Spanish language on ACTFL written and oral assessments.
  • Preferred training and/or experience; or willingness to take course work and engage in professional development to increase knowledge and use of the following:
    • Dual Language Education Theory Philosophy and Instructional Models
    • Core Content Standards-based teaching WIDA English/Spanish Language Standards
    • Bilingual education content pedagogy methods and instructional strategies that support academic core content attainment bilingualism biliteracy and multiculturalism
    • Spanish Literacy Instruction & Cross-linguistic Transference
    • English Language Development
    • Second Language Development
    • Sheltered Instruction
    • Multilingual Multi-Tiered Systems of Support
    • Culturally and Linguistically Responsive Teaching

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed in a regular school building.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Employment with Clover Park School District is conditional pending completion of a Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint background check as required by RCW28A.400.303. (NOTE: All associated background check fees are the employees responsibility.) The fingerprint scan must be completed prior to the first day of employment.

Employees who are anticipated to work 630 hours during the school year (September 1 through August 31) are eligible for medical dental vision long term disability and basic life insurance benefits.

Retirement and Deferred Compensation

Eligible employees are required to be a member of the Washington State Department of Retirement Systems Plan. For eligibility information check on the link to theDepartment of Retirement Systems web site.

Employees also have the ability to participate in tax deferred 403(b) and 457 Deferred Compensation Plans (DCP). These are supplemental retirement savings programs that allows you control over the amount of pre-tax salary dollars you defer as well as the flexibility to choose between multiple investment options.

*Clover Park School District total possible pay consists of base salary plus the following:

Building Centered Responsibility - 5 days

District Centered Responsibility - 2.5 days

Event Responsibility - 1 day

Attendance required for compensation of responsibility pay (building-centered district-centered and event).
