Vice President of Operations Confidential Aerospace Manufacturer
A leading aerospace and defense manufacturer is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Vice President of Operations (VPO) to oversee OEM and MRO production operations across a high-mix precision-engineered environment. This is a mission-critical role responsible for operational leadership team development and continuous improvement across all production functions.
Lead and optimize day-to-day production for both OEM and MRO operations
Drive short- and long-term goals for on-time delivery quality revenue and gross margin
Implement and evolve operational strategies processes and policies to maximize efficiency and minimize risk
Achieve and sustain 95% On-Time Delivery (OTD) and first-pass yield targets
Lead a team of 90 employees through five direct reports fostering a culture of accountability and results
Partner cross-functionally with engineering quality supply chain and finance
Utilize ERP systems to plan labor and machine resources and adjust schedules as needed
Oversee operational performance metrics cost control initiatives and lean practices
Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and ensure smooth handoff from engineering to production
Represent the operations function in customer meetings and audits
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Industrial or related Engineering discipline (Masters preferred)
5 years in a senior manufacturing leadership role; aerospace or defense industry preferred
Demonstrated success leading cost reduction productivity and performance improvement initiatives
Strong understanding of manufacturing engineering materials and production planning
Skilled in ERP systems (Infor preferred) and data-driven decision-making
Exceptional communication leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills
Comfortable working in high-mix low-volume regulated environments
Willingness to travel up to 15% domestically and internationally
Background in robotic automation or machine shop integration
Hands-on experience in continuous improvement (Lean Six Sigma etc.)
Strong technical fluency across mechanical and systems design principles
Aerospace sector experience including FAA DoD or NADCAP compliance
