JOB SUMMARY:
Provides technical support through completion of Ride & Show design projects and working closely and effectively with other UO departments / divisions. All work is expected to be carried out in pre-established guidelines in performance of his/her duties including strict adherence to the U.O. Engineering Drafting Standards. Responsible for initiating sketches and notes that will evolve into detail and assembly type drawings and works with minimal supervision from engineers. Projects will include redesign on mechanical and structural elements for Rides and Show. The Designer II is qualified to act as liaison for fabrication/installation of projects.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Completes design modifications for mechanical and structural systems at the Rides and Attractions to enhance guest comfort reliability and quality. Ensures all designs comply with industry standard for fabrication and machining practices including ASME ASTM ANSI AWS and JIC among others.
- Assists the engineers with observations field measurements design and testing. Provides vendor interfacing and resolve production problems with UO vendors. Plans and layouts project tasks for increased productivity and effectiveness. Provides design review support to other designers for accuracy tolerance stack form and fit ease of manufacture and cost-effectiveness. Assists Q/C and/or field technicians with information and drawing clarification as necessary. Acts as liaison for fabrication and installation of projects.
- Checks drawings for accuracy conformity fit tolerance and adherence to applicable standards of geometric tolerance weld symbols fit and clearance conventions proper fastener specs and usage finish radii etc. Checks the work of other designers.
- Researches evaluates and retrieves archived information in Document Control as necessary to complete assignments. Initiates prepares and completes Engineering Change Notice (ECN) paperwork in an accurate and thorough manner. Ensures the security of all UO drawings and documents in their possession.
- Understands and actively participates in Environmental Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy procedures training and team member involvement activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
SCOPE:
Responsible for the drafting and less complex design of mechanical and structural drawing packages as requested by Engineering Management.
EDUCATION:
- High School or GED required.
- Associates degree (AA) OR equivalent from two-year college or technical school in mechanical area is preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 3 years in design support and installation of dynamic mechanical structural pneumatic and hydraulic integrated systems preferably within a Theme Park environment required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATIONS LICENSES REGISTRATIONS:
AutoCAD certification required
