First Presbyterian Church is seeking a dedicated individual to join us in our mission to be the Light Life for the City. As our Accounting Manager youll be a vital member of our Business Operations Ministry Team supporting the mission of the church through accurate financial reporting and strong fiscal stewardship. This full-time benefits eligible role is ideal for an accounting professional with at least 5 years of experience who has great attention to detail and a strong accounting background.
Qualifications
Education Requirements:
- Bachelors degree (in related field) required.
Experience Requirements:
- A minimum of 5-years experience in general accounting including journal entries reconciliations and general ledger analysis.
- A minimum of 5-years experience in accounts payable and receivable.
- A minimum of 5-years experience in financial reporting and general ledger accounting.
Position Requirements:
- Perform general accounting duties including journal entries account reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records.
- Lead month-end closing processes and prepare timely detailed financial reports for Church leadership to review.
- Conduct bank reconciliations ensuring accuracy of cash balances and identifying discrepancies.
- Process accounts payable ensuring invoices are paid accurately and on time.
- Communicate with vendors to resolve billing issues confirm payment status and maintain strong working relationships.
- Serve as a backup for processing cash deposits including recording contributions and ensuring secure handling of funds.
- Analyze general ledger accounts to support reporting budgeting and audit readiness.
- Generate and distribute budget reports to department heads offering clarity and support as needed.
- Other duties as applicable to advance the ministries of First Pres.
