Position Profile

Core Systems and Support Team - Washington State Administrative Offices of the Courts


The Infrastructure Core Systems and Support team plays a pivotal role in ensuring the reliable operation of essential systems and services. This includes managing key Windows services such as Active Directory AD Certificate Services Azure DNS File Servers and Group Policy among others for multiple domains.


Beyond core Windows services the team is also responsible for maintaining virtualization environments and the SAN Infrastructure ensuring the availability of high-performance server platforms. As a critical escalation point within the organization the team tackles complex technical challenges contributing to seamless and efficient operations.


We are seeking a motivated individual with proven experience in supporting foundational Windows services as well as a passion for working across diverse systems. This role is ideal for a self-starter eager to grow their expertise and contribute to the teams mission of excellence and reliability.

Salary:Range 72: $91068 - $119496 per year (DOQ).

WASHINGTON STATE RESIDENCY AND TELEWORK INFORMATION


AOC requires employees to reside in Washington State. Any exceptions must be approved. If you are invited to interview and currently reside outside of Washington State seek more information about residency requirements from the AOC hiring manager of this recruitment.


This position requires at least 1 day per week working onsite at AOC facilities

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities may include a mixture of the following:

  • Manage and optimize Active Directory environments across multiple forests and domains ensuring security reliability and scalability.
  • Design implement and maintain Group Policy Objects (GPOs) to enforce consistent configurations and streamline system management.
  • Support and enhance Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) with AD Certificate Services to ensure secure communication and authentication.
  • Administer and improve Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS) to provide seamless and secure single sign-on experiences for users.
  • Oversee DNSinfrastructure ensuring accurate resolution performance optimization and system integrity.
  • Maintain improve and secure File Services to ensure efficient access organization and data integrity for users.
  • Possess strong skills with PowerShell scripting language
  • Implement and manage regular patching schedules to keep Windows systems secure updated and compliant with organizational policies.
  • Actively contribute to and refine disaster recovery plans ensuring readiness and minimizing potential downtime in critical scenarios.
  • Be part of a professional scheduled on-call rotation to handle escalations and ensure continuity of operations without compromising work-life balance.
  • Enhance cloud capabilities by supporting and advancing Azure-based services and infrastructure.
  • Design manage and optimize virtualization solutions with VMware ensuring maximum performance and resource efficiency.
  • Oversee SAN infrastructure including backup strategies to ensure data availability protection and recovery.
  • Develop and maintain advanced knowledge of AOC Infrastructure to independently learn and implement solutions that best meets AOC business needs.
  • Perform expert level troubleshooting and problem resolution to ensure business continuity reliability and performance.
  • Regularly evaluates software products for accuracy business impact and potential problems to ensure the best product is used for AOC business needs.
  • Learn and utilize support products to minimize business impact and provide the highest level of productivity.
  • Consult and mentor AOC Staff and Court employees in order to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
  • Perform lead duties in workgroups and projects as directed by Core Systems and Support supervisor.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple assigned tasks and execute parallel tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Performs other work as assigned.

Qualifications and Credentials

Relevant experience may substitute for education on a year for year basis.


A Bachelors degree in Computer Science or closely related field;AND:

  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience working specifically in the area of Windows Active Directory Administration.



THE IDEAL APPLICANT WILL ALSO HAVE SOME OR ALL OF THE FOLLOWING EXPERIENCE EDUCATION KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES


  • Possess expert knowledge of key system utilities and applications such as the ones below.
    1. Microsoft Server (2019 and higher)
    2. Exchange / Exchange Online
    3. Anti-virus and Malware Protection
    4. Disaster Recovery Bi-annually restore systems at remote site on unlike hardware
    5. BizTalk
  • Expert knowledge with VMWare administration
  • Strong knowledge of SAN architectures and FC/ iSCSI protocols
  • Knowledge or experience is highly desired with the use of NFS in VMWare
  • Strong experience with Pure Storage system best practices design implementation upgrade and management
  • Strong understanding of major enterprise Windows operating systems
  • Able to independently prioritize workload clearly articulate technical concepts and work with various teams to provide timely accurate clear and concise service to all who need it.
  • Skilled in independently learning new software and concepts.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make timely strategic decisions and recommendations consistent with organizational objectives.
  • Ability to think critically in decision-making and problem-solving situations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Proven ability to independently create written materials and presentations; and to communicate both technical and non-technical information to a wide variety of audiences.
  • Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with peers to enhance and encourage collaboration on work products.

Supplemental Information

  • The workweek may fluctuate depending on workload or agency needs.
  • Overnight travel may be required based on business needs.
  • This position is not overtime eligible.
