Job Description

Manager Advanced Production & Automation Composite Automation

The Advanced Production & Automation team within the office of the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) is seeking a Manager Advanced Production & Automation Composite Automation (level K) to lead the composite fabrication automation team in Everett or Seattle WA. This position leads a team of technologists developing and deploying manufacturing process automation and robotics in composite fabrication and tooling design. This team will engage with internal and external partners to develop integrated automation solutions across the value stream from digital design to manufacturing workflow through physical manufacture and inspection.

The team will also pursue and execute internal & external funding opportunities and R&D partnerships to advance the processes and tools for production system automation on behalf of the Boeing enterprise.

Additionally the team will lead and/or support the execution of enterprise-impactful positively-disruptive Production System demonstrations and pathfinders to deliver value through practical implementations of integrated automation solutions digital workflow optimization and physical product fabrication in AFP/ATL NC programming Composite fabrication processes (manual and automated) tooling/holding-fixture design and inspection automation.

Successful candidates will be comfortable working in a dynamic highly collaborative environment while coordinating across functional and organizational boundaries to drive mutual value through demonstration activities.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Development demonstration and transition of tools and process enhancements relevant to digital workflow optimization and physical product fabrication in composite fabrication processes tooling/holding-fixture design and inspection automation

  • Project management discipline with focus on key metrics of success while maintaining close oversight on financial and timeline management of the team

  • Develop and maintain an inclusive collaborative team environment while maintaining a positive sense of urgency

  • Foster the development of team members in technical and career aspirations

  • Pursue internal & external funding opportunities and R&D partnerships to advance the processes and tools for production system automation on behalf of the Boeing enterprise

  • Work with production program teams and Enterprise Technology Office to develop enterprise technology roadmaps and scout new advancements in pursuit of positively disruptive competitively advantageous technologies.

  • Align with production and product development program customers to ensure demonstrated value aligns to programmatic needs correlated to SCNs and readiness level and implementation timelines

  • Work effectively and efficiently across organizational and functional engineering teams to build trust and cohesion

  • Leverage existing global teams skills experience and relationships to execute projects

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationallyup to 25% of the time

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 3 years of experience leading project teams to meet project objectives and deliverables

  • 3 years of experience leading engineering teams in research & development and program support

  • 3 years of experience with composite fabrication process (manual and automated)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with digitally enabled factory systems and architectures

  • Experience leading teams executing CNC machining Composite Fabrication and/or paint automation

  • Degree in engineering field

  • Experience withproduction system technologies

  • Experience in a manufacturing or engineering role

  • Experience managing teams and projects spread across multiple locations

  • Experience working in or with BDS and/or BCA
