About the Role
This role is an exciting senior clinical leadership opportunity at St Vincents Hospital Melbourne (SVHM) with a significant influence on the health and well-being of consumers and the broader community commensurate with the values of St Vincents Health Australia.
The Director Adult Mental Health is the most senior medical clinician in the Adult Mental Health Service with key responsibility for the clinical quality and safety framework. The role is pivotal in the training and professional development of interdisciplinary clinicians particularly medical undergraduates and postgraduate trainees in partnership with the Director of Postgraduate Medical Training.
The Director Adult Mental Health in partnership with the Operations Managers for Adult Acute and Community will provide dual governance leadership for the Adult Mental Health Service clinical teams and services. The Director will provide direct management for the Clinical Directors in Adult Mental Health - Acute Community Consultation-Liaison Community Acute Response Team and Postgraduate Medical Education.
The role reports to the Clinical Program Director and General Manager Mental Health & Addiction Medicine and is accountable for the delivery of clinical services to consumers accessing SVHM Adult Mental Health through governance of the provision of high-quality clinical services contributing to and leading service evaluation and research and displaying a commitment to ongoing learning and professional development in psychiatry.

About St Vincents Mental Health and Wellbeing Program
St. Vincents Hospital Melbourne Mental Health and Wellbeing Program (MHWP) includes an adult and older adult area mental health and wellbeing service (including Older Youth 18-25) for the inner-city areas of Yarra and Boroondara. The MHWP components cover the full range of clinical area mental health & wellbeing services from acute inpatient and community to residential care. In addition the MHWP auspices three key Statewide Services (Victorian Dual Disability Service Victorian Transcultural Mental Health Unit and the 5 beds designated as the Koori State-wide Inpatient Service linked to the Victorian Aboriginal Health Service) and two regional services (NEXUS Dual Diagnosis Service and the Body Image and Eating Disorders Assessment and Treatment Service (BETRS).
