About IPSD

Caterpillars Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L engines that not only power Caterpillar machines but also power over 5000 other applications including Marine Petroleum Industrial Applications Electric Generators and Locomotives. Caterpillars company strategy includes sustainability as one of four focus areas and IPSD is engaged and actively preparing green energy solutions for the future.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivatedApplication & Installation (A&I) Engineerto support the integration of industrial engines across a diverse range of OEM applications. In this role you will work closely with CAT dealers Perkins distributors and direct OEM customers throughout the entire product development cyclefrom concept and design to testing and production readiness.

You will provide technical expertise to supportsales teams contribute tocontinuous product improvement (CPI)andnew product introduction (NPI)initiatives and help ensure successful engine installations that meet customer requirements. Additionally you will play a key role intraining and enabling the Americas A&I network while also collaborating with global teams to support the deployment of IPSD commercial engines.


What You Will Do:

  • Lead and support dealer distributor and OEM engine integration projects from concept through to production launch.

  • Ensure A&I capability and readiness across the Americas dealer and distributor network.

  • Provide expert-level A&I support for IPSD commercial global teams and partners.

  • Manage A&I services and initiatives across the Americas region ensuring alignment with business goals.

  • Collaborate with industrial sales teams by delivering technical A&I insights that support and drive engine sales.

  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with dealers and distributors throughout the Americas.

  • Oversee the development of Mechanical and Electronic A&I Guides to support New Product Introduction (NPI) programs for IPSD commercial engines.

  • Track and manage A&I documentation using Salesforce to ensure production readiness and adherence to project timelines


What You Will Have:

Process Management: Knowledge of business process improvement tools and techniques; ability to understand monitor update control or enhance existing business or work processes.

Level Working Knowledge:

  • Employs process flows cycle time process time and waste concepts as appropriate

  • Walks through steps decisions measurements dependencies and hand-offs for a specific process.

  • Creates process flow or workflow diagrams.

  • Document types of process decisions and potential impact of each decision.

  • Identifies and monitors common process bottlenecks.

Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.

Level Working Knowledge:

  • Approaches a situation or problem by defining the problem or issue and determining its significance.

  • Makes a systematic comparison of two or more alternative solutions.

  • Uses flow charts Pareto charts fish diagrams etc. to disclose meaningful data patterns.

  • Identifies the major forces events and people impacting and impacted by the situation at hand.

  • Uses logic and intuition to make inferences about the meaning of the data and arrive at conclusions.

Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit receive and accurately interpret ideas information and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

Level Working Knowledge:

  • Delivers helpful feedback that focuses on behaviors without offending the recipient.

  • Listens to feedback without defensiveness and uses it for own communication effectiveness.

  • Makes oral presentations and writes reports needed for own work.

  • Uses varying problem-solving approaches and techniques as appropriate.

Technical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.

Level Working Knowledge:

  • Ability to design plan and executive testing strategies and tactic to ensure project quality of all stages of Machine Validation

  • Effectively performs the technical job aspects continuously building knowledge and keeping up to date on technical and procedural job components.

  • Applies technical operating and project standards based on achieving excellence in delivered products technologies and services.

  • Applies current procedures and technologies to help resolve technical issues in ones general area of technical competence.

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • Prior Application & Installation (A&I) experience including support of machine validation integration and field testing

  • Hands-on experience with instrumentation and data acquisition systems for engines and/or machines including set-up calibration and performance analysis

  • Experience working directly with dealers or end customers

  • Foundation in electrical and electronics systems including diagnostics troubleshooting and the integration of electronic components

  • Background in technical or solution-based sales

  • Strong working knowledge of machine application design including mechanical electrical interactions system layout and functional characteristics

Additional Information

  • Up 25%Travel required

  • The primary location for this position is Seguin Texas with additional location in Mossville Illinois.

Summary Pay Range:

$95640.00 - $143520.00
