Job Description

Title: Coordinator of Athletic Spirit (Dance and Cheerleading Head Coach)

Reports to: Daniel Stoner Director of Sports Recreation and Student Services DP Harris Athletic Director

Supervises: Students participating in Dance and Cheerleading

Primary function: The Coordinator of Athletic Spirit is responsible for coaching and overseeing Saint Vincent Colleges cheerleading and performance dance teams while coordinating all athletic spirit initiatives. This position aims to unify and enhance student-led spirit programs by promoting professionalism creativity and school pride through high-impact performances campus events and community engagement. The position works closely with student leaders the Athletic Department Club Sports and the Band to maintain a cohesive game day and event presence. The Cheerleading and Dance teams will continue to operate as student-run organizations under the Club Sports structure. Additionally this position will support recruitment efforts by attracting prospective students interested in continuing their cheerleading and dancing careers in college.

Required Qualifications: Previous successful coaching and/or experience in dance cheerleading or related performance programs. Strong leadership and communication skills. Ability to work evenings and weekends during practices games and special events. Dedication to fostering student growth and team morale. Fundraising experience. Demonstrated commitment to the academic and extracurricular success of student participants. Passion for promoting school spirit and enhancing campus culture

Education: Bachelors degree required or working toward degree.

Experience: Minimum of 12 years of experience in dance cheerleading spirit team coordination or related performance settings. Background in organizing student groups choreography or spirit programming preferred. Experience collaborating with athletic departments student affairs or event planning. Experience in recruiting prospective students with an interest in cheer dance or spirit programs

Essential duties:

Coaching Responsibilities

  • Work under the supervision of the club advisor and in cooperation with elected club officers to promote the Dance and Cheer teams
  • Conduct regular practices on campus and teach routines to cheer and dance teams
  • Enforce expectations for attendance participation and conduct
  • Lead game day performances at football mens and womens basketball games
  • Assist in planning and conducting annual tryouts and officer elections
  • Support club officers or team captains in resolving issues that may arise
  • Promote a spirit of cooperation and friendship among dancers cheerleaders and the broader SVC community
  • Encourage participation in campus events and service projects both on and off campus
  • Organize team-building and morale-boosting activities to foster unity and engagement

Spirit Oversight

  • Collaborate with student officers and campus organizations to support student-led operations
  • Coordinate with the Band Mascot SGA SAAC Game Day Management and Sports Information to plan in-game entertainment including cheers dances and community engagement
  • Develop a cohesive spirit strategy for athletic seasons campus events and community appearances

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Athletics Admissions Community Relations and Marketing to promote school spirit and institutional branding
  • Support and track fundraising efforts for spirit programs while exploring new opportunities.
