Prospects Employment Services centre currently has exciting opportunities for anEmployment Resource Centre Coordinatorfor our head office.

You will work with people at important crossroads in their lives helping them make good career choices and achieve their goals. Youll be responsible for pre-employment support assessment and monitoring client progress.

In order to be eligible for this role the government of AB requires the successful applicant to be under 30 years of age and a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident. You must reflect your eligibility for this role in your cover letter or on your resume.

What will you do

  • Meets engages and identifies with clients for their career development and employment needs: educates clients on services
  • Build productive relationships and use sound judgement and tact when providing advice to clients.
  • Assists with pre-employment and client readiness: provides employment counselling; critiques and composes resumes cover letters and reference documents; conducts mock interviews with client and maintains relevant and current knowledge of the local labour market.
  • Increases the profile of Prospect in the community: networks attends local career and information fairs; and refers clients to access other or additional services in the community
  • Provides first point of contact for clients via a variety of virtual portals.
  • Establishes remote portals where clients can access services which may include:
  • Receiving Calls
  • Emails
  • Online Forms
  • Facebook interactions and Messages
  • Other virtual platforms

  • Collects client information to triage to other Prospect services or external referral sources or provides information services (such as light touch career advising information on Prospect events access to self-directed resources or any combination of the above. Records this information in the database.
  • Completes other employment and administrative tasks as required.

What does it take to do this job

  • Currently enrolled in post-secondary education in Career Counselling Human/Social Services or other related field
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word Excel PowerPoint
  • High standards of personal integrity and work ethic
  • Superior client service active listening and critical thinking abilities
  • Ability to prioritize identify key issues and bring solutions to the table
  • Knowledge of the Calgary labour market
  • Knowledge of additional community resources government resources mental health providers addiction support providers an asset
  • Advanced organizational abilities with flexibility in shifting priorities: the ERC can be busy at times with walk-in clients and appointments or a slower place - the person selected must be able to adjust effectively

Further notes:

  • An equivalent of education and work experience will be considered
  • This position is based out of our downtown and head offices.
  • This position is an 8 week summer student position at 35 hours per week (M-F 7 hours / day)
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends is required for possible events such as career fairs and networking or community related events
