What We Are Looking For

The Interim Residence Hall Director will provide dynamic support within the department of Campus Living & Learning offering assistance across various functions including administrative duties student programming committee involvement class instruction and other special projects. This role will temporarily assume the duties of a Residence Hall Director when Residence Hall Director vacancies occur ensuring continuity of student services and community development until a new Residence Hall Director is hired (for which they would be considered if interested).

This position is a temporary appointment that will end on May 31 2026.

*All applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

The ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge/skills/abilities:

What You Will Do

  • Staff Support
    • Temporarily cover residence hall vacancies as needed including but not limited to supervising residence hall staff managing community development efforts and ensuring the smooth operation of the residence hall
    • Participate in various departmental projects and initiatives assisting with the planning execution and evaluation of new programs or improvements to existing ones
    • Serve as a member of multiple Campus Living & Learning committees contributing to departmental processes including but not limited to student staff hiring and training
    • Assist with departmental strategic planning program development and implementation of new initiatives
    • Assist with hall openings closings and mid-semester inspections
  • Administrative Responsibilities
    • In conjunction with the Residence Hall Director team manage postings and candidate pools for the Office Assistant position for hall vacancies to facilitate expedited hiring and training
    • Participate in admissions events and programs
    • Support office functions such as the Community Leader resource rooms managing office supplies maintaining records and utilizing departmental technology platforms (Microsoft Office Suite StarRez Maxient etc.)
  • Professional Development
    • Serve on Campus Living & Learning committees as well as teaching a credited leadership class
    • Attend Student Life and University professional development opportunities
    • Participate in annual departmental professional staff trainings
  • Other
    • Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylors mission
    • Ability to comply with university policies
    • Maintain regular and punctual attendance

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Masters degree and three years of relevant work experience are required.A combination of education and experience with be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Masters degree preferred in College Student Personnel Higher Education/Student Affairs or related field with full-time or graduate residence life given to candidates with experience being on-call for crisis and emergency response advising residence hall organizations and living on campus in a graduate or professional enthusiasm for integrating faith and learning is also preferred.

COMPENSATION:

Starting annual salary is $52500.00 plus annual professional development funds and excellent university benefits that start on the first date of remission for some academic programs are available for self and family after completing one year of continuous full-time service. A furnished apartment including cable internet and access to a washer and dryer is provided. Additionally compensation includes ablock of 170meals per semester free use of the campus recreation facility laptop smart phone with unlimited data free parking and reserved parking spots for employee and spouse as well as free admission to athletic events with the exception of football. Pet dog agreement available for those interested. Requests for emotional support animals are vetted by Human Resources.
