JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB STATUS: All Applicants

JOB TITLE: Student Information System (SIS) Manager

LOCATION: Kuna School District

CALENDAR: 245 Days

HOURS: Full Time

SUPERVISOR: Administrator of Information Technology

SALARY: $57916.82 - $67496.99 per year

JOB SUMMARY: Perform school and district-level functions required by the district student information system. Assists data analyst in completing and submitting the ISEE report and other state/federal reports as assigned. Maintains updates and supports district online registration processes. Works collaboratively with all aspects of the school district and district personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Works collaboratively with other SIS Manager.
  • Ability to follow both oral and written directions.
  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to plan own work schedule and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot reported problems with SIS.
  • Communicate with SIS vendor to resolve issues/problems.
  • Ability to communicate with district technical staff to resolve SIS problems and work beyond the regular workday to resolve critical SIS problems.
  • Ability to attend SIS training provided by the vendor.
  • Knowledge of federal and state mandates relating to district data collection and reporting
  • Ability to write read and interpret technical documents.
  • Ability to document technical procedures.
  • Ability to provide differentiated training to staff with a variety of job responsibilities and technical capabilities
  • Two years of technical work experience with student information systems.
  • Basic understanding of relational database systems database tables fields and keys.
  • Basic understanding of HTML SQL and other programming languages
  • Ability to construct complex data queries and reports within student information systems.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data and report results to appropriate district staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to accomplish the major duties and responsibilities listed below.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Establish and implement procedures for data entry to comply with District State and Federal reporting requirements
  2. Provide/coordinate and document training as needed for all district staff using SIS
  3. Set-up maintain and manage the student information system including; initial yearly set-up activities (school calendar period set-up meeting patterns and cycles terms etc) daily system operations and all necessary end-of-year procedures
  4. Maintain and update staff information and user accounts as necessary
  5. Establish and implement security features including rights assignment and password policies
  6. Perform regular maintenance in the SIS database including; system updates field level changes and data cleanup activities to ensure system integrity
  7. Regularly review patches and updates to systems identified above and determine relevance to current needs.
  8. Test patches updates imports and exports in virtual environments.
  9. Collaborate with building secretaries to establish best practices
  10. Maintain and coordinate the collection and disbursement of data entry formats that provide consistency across the district.
  11. Maintain update and support online registration
  12. Manage and modify online registration user enrollment configuration settings
  13. Train and support district staff and community members
  14. Work collaboratively with all school personnel including but not limited to nurses office managers bookkeepers counselors admin teachers etc

General Responsibilities

  • Work with students parents staff and others in a positive and encouraging manner.
  • Know and follow district policy and chain of command.
  • Act ethically and confidentially in all aspects of employment.
  • Update district documentation and workflow processes
  • Create and maintain district SIS documentation for staff
  • Troubleshoot basic technical hardware/software issues.
