- Completion of the twelfth (12th) school grade including business subjects with emphasis on general office practices or completion of an appropriate certificate program from an approved business school/college
- Minimum of 3 years progressively responsible and diversified office experience including demonstrated supervisory capability administration of property management and leasing knowledge and experience in practical application of the Residential Tenancies Act (RTA) and other related legislation
- A professional designation as a Certified Property Manager (CPM) OR Real Property Administrator (RPA) is considered an asset
- Financial acumen including effective skill in supporting the preparation and presentation of comprehensive analysis and reports
- Ability to work in a municipal government setting as well as understanding the corporate structure and interdepartmental relationships
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with developers government officials departmental representatives and others
- Excellent customer service skills ability to troubleshoot and provide decisions in an emergency situation and follow approved guidelines
- Experience dealing with customers in stressful and/or difficult situations
- Ability to communicate with multiple stakeholders negotiate and build consensus with people at varying levels and provide clear recommendations
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple changing priorities and high attention to detail including effective time management skills
- Ability to think strategically make decisions and assess risks
- Knowledge of POSSE SAP TACS and TRIRIGA is considered an asset
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite or Google Applications and the ability to learn new programs/software is required

The Real Estate Branch combines real estate and land development expertise to create integration across a diverse portfolio: we own lease and manage the Citys inventory of real property (land buildings and facilities). We provide expert real estate services to the corporation and integrate multiple corporate interests so that Council can achieve its vision.
The Property Assistant is a support role to the unit providing property management services and is accountable to their own routine low complexity low value portfolio including Utility Garden and Vacant Lots. If you are a self-starter with experience in the property management processes have strong communication skills and take initiative then consider joining the Property Services team.
The key responsibilities of the Property Assistant role include:
- Independently administering a low complexity low value portfolio of properties including implementing and managing lease and license agreements
- Support the unit in the preparation of accurate financial reports for lease and property as well as preparing and reconciling vendor charges purchase orders and maintenance orders
- Participate and coordinate daily property activity
- Prepare and review necessary data and documentation for the analysis of property
- Obtain estimates for various jobs and monitor contract work
- Audit and ensure accuracy of the property system
- Prepares work orders upon request for identified areas and ensures all work is completed
- Processes invoices for payment and insurance claims
- Maintains a complete record of current approved section projects and programs as well as a record of current budget expenditures leasing projects and programs
