The Chief Medical Physicist is responsible professionally to the Head of the Radiation Therapy Service and Department of Radiation Oncology and administratively to the Senior Director and Senior Medical Director of the Cancer Care Program for all aspects of medical physics service education and research. The Chief Medical Physicist holds a key mandate of developing and directing graduate education research and development in the Medical Physics department. In coordination with the Director of Clinical Medical Physics the Chief Medical Physicist is responsible in ensuring that radiation therapy is delivered in an accurate effective and safe manner using contemporary national and international methods and standards. The Chief Medical Physicist holds an academic appointment ordinarily in the Faculty of Medicine Dalhousie University with cross-appointment to the Department of Physics and Atmospheric Science.

The Chief Medical Physicist position is a permanent fulltime position on Long Term Assignment with a renewable term of 5 years.
