In Kansas City Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies (FM&T) manages and operates the U.S. Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administrations (NNSA) Kansas City National Security state-of-the-art engineering manufacturing and sourcing facility produces a wide array of intricate components to deliver trusted national security products and government services primarily for the FM&Ts culture of integrity commitment and continuous improvement enables them to deliver responsive collaborative and innovative management and technology services and products that translate into cutting edge solutions to complex national security issues.

Summary

This role is responsible for waste management and spill response of entire facility operations. This role may also include responsibility for overseeing other environmental compliance or HSE activities as needed. Further responsibilities include developing forward planning to maintain the highest standards of environmental protection and control for regulated wastes & recycling programs.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Establishes specific control activities and programs to assure compliance with all laws and regulations regarding discharges of any materials which might cause environmental degradation.
  • Collects and organizes data and prepares reports required by DOE city state federal or corporate authorities.
  • Investigates incidents that might have adverse ecological impact and initiates corrective action.
  • Reviews construction projects requests for services chemical procurement and changes in manufacturing processes early in the planning stages (usually through Management of Change MOC) to assure full consideration of environmental control aspects of all projects.
  • Conducts informational meetings for employees management customers and regulators on environmental compliance status and requirements throughout the plant.
  • Recommends new or revised program activities to assure full compliance with current requirements of environmental laws and regulations including regulated hazardous wastes & recyclables.
  • Provides direct support to Kansas City Field Office (KCFO)/National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) including interface with regulators and their contractors in meetings telephone conversations presentations and through provision of comments on regulatory proposals and documents.
  • Researches available and appropriate publications and other information sources to determine the direction of future regulatory actions determine potential impact and provide comments to the regulators representing the interests of the facility.
  • Supports the emergency management program and recommend actions on anticipation of potential impacts on operations and response capabilities.
  • Provides support to other HSE programs and activities.
  • Provides support to lube/coolant activities and sanitization of material.

You Must Have

  • 5 years of experience in environmental compliance or related field.
  • Bachelors degree in environmental science engineering chemistry or related field. Some positions within this classification may require unique knowledge or coursework related to a particular discipline.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
  • Ability to work remote hybrid or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business.
  • United States Citizenship
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job
