Job Description

Position Posting: Literacy Facilitator/Interventionist K-4 (formerly Reading Specialist)

Qualifications:Nebraska Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement required

Compensation: Per Salary Schedule

Employment: Full-Time Contract Begins August 2025 New Teacher Activities Begin July 29 2025

Reports To: Building Administrator/Executive Director of Human Resources and Elementary Operations

DEPARTMENT: Teaching and Learning

JOB TITLE: Literacy Facilitator/Interventionist

REQUIREMENTS:

Education Level:

  • Bachelors Degree
  • Reading Specialist or related area or other advanced training is preferred

Certification/Licensure:

  • Nebraska Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement and level for area and grade taught

Experience Desired:

  • Minimum three years of successful experience at the elementary level (Primary grades preferred)

Other Requirements:

  • Good human relations skills
  • Ability to work with students staff administration and parents
  • Knowledge of and continued learning in subject area to be taught
  • Ability to demonstrate appropriate lesson planning model effective teaching strategies and use applicable assessment practices
  • Ability to provide professional learning and on-going support to adult learners
  • Knowledge of child development
  • Excellent skills in oral and written communication
  • Ability to use technology as an instructional tool for data analysis research and presentation
  • Flexibility relating to building assignment

REPORTS TO: Building Administrator(s) and Executive Director of Elementary Operations

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The essential functions of each employees position includes (1) regular dependable in-person attendance on the job; (2) the ability to perform the identified tasks and to possess and utilize the identified knowledge skills and abilities to perform the identified work activities; and (3) the ability to perform the physical requirements on their specific job description.

Basic:

Lead District Literacy program and provide intervention services to students.



Frequent:

  1. Impact classroom literacy instruction and student learning
  2. Demonstrate skills in teaching specific reading skills including phonemic awareness phonics fluency comprehension and vocabulary
  3. Consult and collaborate frequently with classroom teachers on matters relating to ELA instruction
  4. Use assessment data to identify students with reading deficiencies and assist in creating intervention plans
  5. Develop and implement lesson plans for students in reading interventions
  6. Plan and present professional learning and ongoing support for colleagues
  7. Maintain organized record keeping
  8. Administer assessments as needed
  9. Serve as leader of assessment data
  10. Assist in the selection of books equipment instructional programming and other instructional materials
  11. Serve on building level committees and teams
  12. Participate in Reading Team and Committee meetings
  13. Consult with District Literacy committees (e.g. textbook selection program development curriculum alignment etc.)
  14. Assist the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student conduct/activities develop for the learning environment reasonable rules for behavior and procedure and maintain order in the learning environment in a fair and just manner
  15. Supervise and participate in fire drills and other emergency preparedness programs
  16. Follow the policies regulations procedures and expectations established by the Board of Education and administration
  17. Attend and participate in staff meetings activities etc. of designated buildings as required
  18. Participate in professional growth through an ongoing program of workshops seminars conferences inservices and/or advanced coursework at institutions of higher learning
  19. Other miscellaneous duties projects and responsibilities as assigned

Climatic Environment: Primary work environment is a heated classroom and building however air-conditioning depends upon the building assignment.
