Description:
Under general supervision operates heavy equipment (i.e. wheel loader track loader compactor dump truck transfer truck and various other equipment) related to the daily operations of the landfill transfer station or green waste facility.
Qualifications:
Must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Must possess a valid Utah Commercial Drivers License (CDL) at a level appropriate to the equipment operated (Class A). Experience in customer service. Must have six (6) months of experience operating heavy equipment. Computer experience desirable.
Responsibilities:
Will be responsible to operate wheel loader track loader compactor transfer truck grinder and trommel screen. Cleaning up green waste area. Loading customers and directing customers to proper areas. Working in C&D or Transfer Station. Must be flexible on work hours 2-3 days per week (10 hr. shift) depending on department needs.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of landfill and composting process helpful. Knowledge of hazards and applicable safety precautions for heavy equipment operation. Knowledge of equipment maintenance capabilities limitations and safe operations. Able to work in extreme hot cold wet and dusty conditions. Must be capable of lifting 75 lbs. without adverse consequences. Ability to establish satisfactory working relationship with fellow employees and the general public.
