Job Description


Summary

Simulation Maintenance Technician II on the Mobile Close Combat Tactical Trainer (MCCTT) at Camp Shelby MS on the Army Training Aids Devices Simulators and Simulations (TADSS) Program (ATMP)

Essential Functions

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Maintains repairs troubleshoots modifies and installs various types of electronic equipment and related devices such as electronic transmitting and receiving equipment (e.g. radar radio television telecommunication navigational aids personal and main frame computers and terminals industrial measuring and controlling equipment).

Applies technical knowledge of electronics principles in determining equipment malfunctions and applies skill in restoring equipment operation evaluates performance and reliability of prototype or production mode and recommends changes in circuitry or installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance.

Applies technical knowledge to solve complex problems that typically cannot be solved solely by referencing manufacturers manuals or similar documents.

Requires an understanding of the interrelationships of circuits exercising independent judgment in performing such tasks as making circuit analyses calculating wave f forms and tracing relationships in signal flow using complex test instruments such as high frequency pulse generators frequency synthesizers distortion analyzers and complex computer control equipment.

May provide technical guidance to lower-level technicians.

Applies technical knowledge to incorporate engineering changes and upgrades to the satisfaction of the customer.

Work may be reviewed by supervisor for general compliance with accepted practices.

Present hardware software and or subsystem problems to design and support engineering teams.

Troubleshoots updates and configures Linux and Windows based operating systems during replacement and re-configuration of system computer network systems.

Troubleshoot and repair complex electronic/electromechanical equipment and systems subsystems local area networks and peripheral workstations.

Utilize common and special purpose test equipment to isolate malfunctions and perform repair actions.

Performs maintenance support anywhere the training device is located.

Performs complex circuit equipment repair and modifications.

Performs rust prevention and corrosion control.

Performs corrective action.

Performs maintenance scheduling IAW technical manuals and requirements.

Applies networking knowledge to resolve network setup and configuration issues.

May be required to perform repairs on pneudraulic hydraulic and HVAC equipment.

Accurately maintain component and parts levels in the storeroom.

Captures and records accurate and timely maintenance history ensuring that unique corrective measures for work orders and repair are annotated into the Management Information System (MIS).

Requires limited supervision.

Starts up all simulators at the beginning of training and shut down all simulators at the end of training.

Maintain repair troubleshoot and install various types of MCCTT equipment to include PMCS requirements.

Visually inspect components for signs of loose cables excess dirt/dust on fan vents and clean all dust and/or debris from device equipment.

Keep the training area clean and free of clutter.

Captures and records accurate and timely maintenance history ensuring that unique corrective measures for work orders and repair are annotated into the Management Information System (MIS).

Accurately maintain component and parts levels in storeroom and associated database.

Travel

Limited travel may be required to various locations across the U.S.

Expected Hours of Work

A standard 40-hour workweek Monday to Friday. Flexibility to work overtime weekends and holiday hours to support military training as needed. requirements.

Education and/or Experience

Associates degree in electronic technology (or equivalent) from an accredited college or university and three years minimum work experience in a related discipline or three years related military training or a combination of education and experience.

Three years of increasingly complex and progressive experience in computer systems / networking and simulation platform maintenance.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Experience with generator maintenance.

Ability to interpret wiring diagrams and schematics.

Citizenship

U.S. Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.

Proficiency in speaking reading and writing in English. Ability to read analyze and interpret common professional and industry relevant technical literature. Mathematical Skills

Ability to comprehend calculate and apply principles of business math.

Computer Skills

Solid Technology skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications are essential. Experienced and proficient in the use of standard personal computer software tools; including word processors spreadsheets presentation graphics databases virtual meetings team collaboration software project tracking and databases.

Knowledge of Linux

Reasoning Ability

Ability to identify and define problems gather and analyze relevant data establish facts and draw sound logical conclusions.
