What you will bring:
Technical and Industry Experience:
- Senior-level professional relevant engineering/technologist experience (post-school) including but not limited to directly related Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) experience working on related industrial applications.
Strong Experience with Industrial Control Systems such as Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and/or Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) SCADA systems and Safety Instrumented System (SIS); and associated control system devices computers communications networks endpoint devices and instrumentation. In-depth knowledge of industry advances in control system monitoring testing and analysis of control equipment; and controls theory. Strong technical leadership skills and strong verbal/written communication skills. Experience and foundation with Ethernet network switches and serial digital communications including third party communication protocols (Profibus/Profinet Modbus DNP AB-PLC). Ability to coordinate multiple projects and assignments concurrently and manage deadlines. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to successfully work both independently and in a team environment to identify errors pinpoint root causes and devise solutions with minimal oversight.
Post-secondary education in a field related to Instrumentation & Control. - Senior direct Instrumentation & Control design and engineering experience.
Experience with control loop tuning. Strong computer skills foundation as relates to operating systems controls system software servers networks and communications software. PEO registration or ability to register with PEO. Functional Safety Certification.

Purpose:
We are currently recruiting for a Senior Instrumentation and Controls Engineer. Our team includes world-class experts and dynamic go-getters. This is a full-time position based in Markham or Oakville Ontario.
Take responsibility for the Control engineering and design team assigned and their design output quality cost and schedule requirements for specific projects. - Support the Technical Integrity role for the Instrument & Control (I&C) discipline.
- Ensure all engineering and design work performed adjusts to quality cost and schedule requirements.
- Ensure all design work is safe and carried out in a safe manner.
- Ensure all design work conforms to the codes and standards used by the client or to agreed industry standards.
- The candidate must be based in Sarnia or available to relocate on their own to Sarnia.
Self-motivated individuals with a desire to solve complex engineering problems and show effective team leadership and communication skills will be ideally suitable for this role.
Provide technical expertise and leadership in control system engineering design implementation programming configuration commissioning testing and troubleshooting in support of Control Systems for O&G operations (upstream midstream or downstream; onshore and offshore) Chemical Facilities Manufacturing Facilities etc. along with all associated control system devices computers communications networks endpoint devices and instrumentation. (ICS e.g.: Distributed Control Systems DCS Programmable Logic Controller systems PLC and SCADA). Provide technical expertise in consultation evaluation recommendation and development or review of specifications work scopes bid proposals test procedures alarm response procedures commissioning plans and vendor reports. Provide hands on control system Support including digital devices or systems with communications interface to control systems (e.g. inverters drives and protection relays for electrical power systems). Manage/Lead projects and perform multiple responsibilities of controls engineering support in parallel and oversee vendor/contractor support when needed. Provide support and leadership to meet ICS Cyber Security requirements as well as other regulatory compliance requirements projects initiatives and activities relative to industrial controls and control systems. Perform evaluation of control system and instrumentation specifications for projects and new plant construction. Control Systems may include (but not limited to the following vendors): Honeywell Schneider Emerson GE ABB Allen-Bradley Siemens Modicon Wonderware.
