Description
Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit including GO Expansion Light Rail Transit routes and major expansions to Torontos subway system to get people where they need to go better faster and easier. Our Northern Corridors team is looking for two (2) Senior Manager Project Delivery to join the team! You will lead and provide overall management and oversight to the Barrie and Stouffville corridor capital infrastructure projects from concept to completion ensuring completion on time and within the approved budget.

What will I be doing
  • Develop project strategies while providing overall administrative and technical leadership and oversight to multiple corridor project activities (e.g. Railway Track Signals and Station Infrastructure construction activities) to ensure coordination of efforts and successful completion while minimizing the impact on service and maintaining a high level of customer service.
  • Manage and contribute to the pre-construction process by reviewing and approving all plans schedules and tendering documents to ensure optimal coordination of projects throughout the network in alignment with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Review consultant proposals and develop recommendations briefings and reports for proposed projects consistent with strategic plan and business objectives for timely decision making.
  • Oversee project activities to proactively identify any areas of potential exposure or non-compliance and recommend appropriate actions to mitigate risk.
  • Partner and manage relationships with internal cross-functional departments (e.g. rail operations safety and system assurance asset management corridor delivery group procurement construction management) to ensure progression of the project and seamless commissioning/ deployment into operational service.
  • Establish processes controls and measures to ensure overall project management and fiscal responsibility.
  • Provide senior leadership oversight and direction to staff and project teams (e.g. define team member roles responsibilities and expectations). Manage staff and monitor work assignments to ensure adherence to timelines achievement of performance objectives and develop and implement action plans to address performance gaps.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need
  • Completion of a degree in Applied Science Engineering Architecture or a related discipline or a combination of education training and experience deemed equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience providing comprehensive project management services associated with the planning design and construction of transit facilities station infrastructure and related experience includes leading a team of technical professionals.
  • Knowledge of Contract Law Construction Liens Act the Occupational Health and Safety Act Environmental Assessment Act and the requirements of the Professional Engineers Act would be an asset.
  • Theories principles and practices of civil and architectural design and construction previous experience in broad phases of engineering application.
  • Project management principles and practices including budget and schedule controls to lead and direct cross functional teams and consultants engaged in simultaneous projects (e.g. development project progress related staff and project resources) and monitor project activities for adherence to timelines budgets and project performance objectives.
  • Analytical and negotiation skills and experience with vendor management to manage development and delivery of externally provided products and services (e.g. negotiate contracts interpret compile and administer contracts and memoranda of understanding (MOUs)
  • Knowledge of railway corridor infrastructure and related construction projects. Familiarity with permits and approval processes.
  • Problem solving skills to analyze issues and provide solutions during the project lifecycle.
  • Influencing skills to establish effective working relationships negotiate and deal with a variety of contacts both internal and external to the organization; along with the ability to gain cooperation from individuals not under direct authority.
  • Interpersonal and oral/written/presentation skills to present complex and/or new ideas with clarity and simplicity to liaise with all levels within the organization and on construction sites and to work effectively with specialists across multiple sectors.
  • A valid G drivers licence in good standing. A Drivers Abstract (within the last 3 Years) will be required of the successful candidate. The employee(s) in this role will have access to a company vehicle (Non-Revenue Fleet Vehicle).
