Key Responsibilities of a General Paralegal:

Legal Research:
Conducting research on relevant laws regulations and case precedents to support attorneys in case preparation.

Document Drafting:
Preparing various legal documents such as pleadings briefs motions contracts and agreements.

Case Preparation:
Assisting with trial preparation by organizing exhibits assembling necessary paperwork and coordinating with witnesses.

File Management:
Maintaining and organizing legal files and documents ensuring accuracy and accessibility.

Client Communication:
Communicating with clients witnesses and other parties to schedule meetings depositions and hearings.

Discovery Management:
Preparing and managing discovery documentation for attorney review including requests for production interrogatories and requests for admissions.

Administrative Support:
Handling administrative tasks to support the legal team such as managing calendars scheduling appointments and coordinating with court personnel.

Legal Compliance:
Monitoring and ensuring compliance with deadlines legal requirements and court procedures.

Legal Analysis:
Assisting in the execution of legal analysis and case strategy discussions.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: Associates degree in paralegal studies or related field is often required but a bachelors degree is also desirable.
- Legal Knowledge: Strong understanding of legal concepts procedures and terminology.
- Research Skills: Ability to conduct thorough legal research using various resources including databases case files and legal websites.
- Drafting Skills: Proficiency in drafting legal documents including pleadings motions and contracts.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with clients attorneys and other legal professionals.
