Job Description

As a EHS Specialist you will promote and participate in plant initiatives aimed at ensuring a safe healthy work environment and regulatory compliance with safety programs. Serve as the local subject matter expert in the regulatory compliance of safety programs for specific manufacturing units. Participate in risk recognition and reduction efforts.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the most complex technical work in a wide range of environmental health and safety disciplines to achieve compliance with the organizations EH&S standards and with federal and state regulatory requirements.
  • Develops implements and maintains programs systems and procedures necessary to ensure the overall safety and health of employees and the community. Conducts comprehensive independent compliance assurance reviews of the environmental health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Monitors and prevents chemical physical and biological hazards and diseases that could be present in the work area.
  • Investigates accidents incidents and injuries and complaints concerning hazards to uncomfortable conditions in the workplace.
  • Recommends improvements in processes design procedures and operating equipment to minimize the hazardous potential.
  • Develops and Conducts employee training emergency preparedness and quality assurance programs.
  • Provides regulatory interpretation and technical advice. Monitors air land and pollution levels.
  • Prepares reports and recommends corrective actions.
  • Maintains current knowledge of specific requirements improved by government agencies.
  • Act as a lead person or technical expert and provides functional direction and training in the application if the occupational health and safety programs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree preferred preferably in Environmental Engineering or related field
  • 0 to 3 years of experience of understanding of OSHA Regulatory Compliance is preferred.
  • Experience with inspections hazard reviews and safety analysis preferred.
  • Must have problem solving and strong communication skills and the ability to work independently or in team environment.
