Developmental Pathways (DP) has an opportunity for an Assistant Controller to join the Finance team. The Assistant Controller will manage the day-to-day operation of the general ledger accounts payable monthly accounting financial statement compilation coordinating audits tax filings process management internal controls reporting and compliance. They will assist with the timely review of the companys accounting information to identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalances and assist in developing/updating operational procedures.
This is an opportunity to coach lead and mentor accounting and accounts payable staff. This role will ensure communication and interactions occur in an appropriate effective and respectful manner with staff across departments external agencies and others; maintain client/customer confidentiality.
This role offers a 4-day 40-hour work week Monday-Thursday and includes the flexibility to work remotely as well as the opportunity to collaborate in-person at our headquarters office in Aurora CO and/or at off-site locations.

A minimum of three (3) years of management and supervisory experience
Thorough working knowledge of accrual accounting and related accounting principles (GAAP)
Ability to interpret and apply IRS standards
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Preferred
Certified Public Accounting (CPA)
Management/supervisory experience in a financial environment
Additional Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with all accounting and finance policies
Oversee and manages the day-to-day operations of the department which includes month-end close accruals accounts payable and review of internal and external financial statements
Protect the organizations assets by establishing overseeing and enforcing internal controls; and advising management of financial liabilities and potential risks
Review provide input and ensure employees receive regular feedback through ongoing supervision and regular performance evaluations; ensure all evaluations are delivered timely
Ensure timely and appropriate training of staff; develop and implement training as needed.
Review and assist staff in the reconciliation of balance sheet accounts
Continually evaluate accounting & financial reporting and monitor processes and procedures to ensure an effective control environment
Assist with the management of and/or manage external audits monthly and year-end calendars
Coordinate and compile 990 tax return schedules and coordinate with external professionals and internal personnel
Coordinate and compile the statement of functional expenses
Provide annual mill levy financial information to reporting coordinator
Stay up to date on financial and accounting rules and regulations and implement new rules when necessary
Act as the liaison between finance and programs by providing accounting support and assistance with interpreting monthly financial results
