Job Description
Cordia Resources by Cherry Bekaert is partnered with a commercial and government sector financial consulting firm based in Washington DC is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their team on a 1 year contract ideal candidates will play a key role in supporting the financial operations ensuring accuracy and compliance in financial reporting and maintaining robust internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) within our clients mortgage services.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and review of financial statements and reports.
- Support the development and implementation of internal control frameworks specifically focusing on mortgage operations.
- Conduct analyses to ensure compliance with financial regulations and identify areas for process improvements.
- Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Participate in audits and provide documentation to support audit processes.
- Assist in maintaining accurate records and documentation for all financial transactions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field.
- Experience in financial reporting and internal controls preferably in the mortgage sector.
- Knowledge of ICFR (Internal Control over Financial Reporting) principles.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks.
- Excellent communication skills.
