Job Description
Spotsylvania County Public Schools is hiring aSchool Performance Coachto join our growing division for the 2025-2026 School Year!
Under the direction of the Supervisor of School Performance the School Performance Coach seeks to enhance school improvement efforts by building the capacity of reading and math instructional coaches and fostering collaboration across schools and departments to ensure the effective implementation of evidence-based practices in literacy and numeracy.
The School Performance Coach is a dedicated instructional leader who focuses on improving learning outcomes through targeted strategies including the effective use of high-intensity tutoring robust attendance interventions and data-driven instructional role supports the districts focus on improving student learning outcomes through targeted professional learning coaching support and aligned instructional strategies.
Essential Functions:
- Partners with the Supervisor of School Performance to advance district-wide instructional priorities and school improvement efforts focused on literacy and numeracy.
- Provides job-embedded professional development mentoring and coaching to reading and math instructional coaches to enhance their effectiveness in supporting classroom teachers and improving instructional practices.
- Demonstrates and models research-based strategies for high-quality literacy and math instruction aligned with district curriculum and standards.
- Collaborates with instructional coaches and school teams to support the implementation of MTSS ensuring tiered academic interventions in reading and math are effectively delivered and progress-monitored.
- Works closely with curriculum and content specialists school administrators and instructional staff to promote consistent aligned instructional practices across all schools.
- Guides coaches and school teams in analyzing student performance data to identify trends inform instructional decisions and support data-driven coaching cycles.
- Designs and leads collaborative learning opportunities for instructional coaches and school-based teams focused on best practices in literacy numeracy and adult learning.
- Supports school teams in assessing the effectiveness of coaching and instructional strategies helping to adjust practices to meet student needs.
- Encourages a culture of continuous improvement by facilitating reflective dialogue among instructional coaches teachers and leaders.

Education and Experience:
- Masters Degree in Education Reading Mathematics Curriculum & Instruction or related field
- Currently possesses a Virginia Collegiate Professional or Postgraduate Professional License within a specific endorsement area(s)
- Five (5) years of successful full-time teaching experience with demonstrated impact in literacy and/or math instruction
- Strong record of leading or supporting professional development and instructional improvement
- Experience as an instructional coach or in a teacher leader
