Job Description

** COMMUNICATION REGARDING TEST INFORMATION WILL BE SENT VIA EMAIL **

PURPOSE AND NATURE OF WORK

This is technical electrical and electronic work on an advanced level. Work involves maintaining testing repairing adjusting and calibrating sophisticated relays meters communications equipment and similar apparatus. Work is performed primarily in substations. Incumbents of the class are required to work around high voltage in varying weather conditions and be on 24-hour call.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from high school supplemented by advanced course work in electrical and electronic equipment maintenance and repair. Considerable experience in the testing maintenance and repair of electrical and electronic equipment; or any equivalent combination of training and experience is desirable.

APPRENTICESHIP

Positions in this class may be assigned to an apprenticeship as defined by Civil Service Rule IV Section 6. This requires the employee to complete all initial and ongoing training requirements as established by Lafayette Utilities System within two (2) years for continued employment.

TYPE OF EXAMINATION: Examination will be a written test.
