We are seeking a Safety Intern who is passionate about creating safe inclusive environments and wants to gain real-world experience in health safety and risk management within a nonprofit setting.
Summary
AbilityFirsts Internship program is a unique opportunity for current participants at our sights to gain real-world experience within the Safety Department.
The Safety Intern will work alongside the Operations and Facilities teams to support a variety of safety initiatives and help ensure our programs and locations meet compliance standards. This is an excellent opportunity for students studying Occupational Safety Environmental Health Public Health Risk Management or a related field to gain real-world experience.
Ideal candidates will be self-motivated hard-working and creative. They will demonstrate a professional demeanor work well with others and have strong written and verbal communication skills.
Interns are expected to be able to commute to the various AbilityFirst Locations.

Mandated Reporting Requirements: The person holding this position is considered a mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 Revised July 21 2017 as a condition of employment.
COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements: Effective August 9 2021 the State Health Officer has mandated that all workers paid or unpaid in homeless services organizations must provide proof of vaccination. If eligible for a booster shot proof of booster is also required. If not fully vaccinated weekly COVID-19 testing is necessary depending on the program.
