Overview:
Dr. Masako Shimamuras lab. Our team studies dysregulated immune responses to viral infections in the immunocompromised host including infants with congenital cytomegalovirus (cCMV) infection. We are currently utilizing PBMC CITE-seq to understand signatures associated with disease severity and outcomes in cCMV infected infants.
The postdoc will take a lead role in analyzing the CITE-seq dataset which will be used to design and implement subsequent in-vitro studies to elucidate the mechanistic basis for impaired T cell responses to congenital infection. Secondary analyses will explore the role of cytotoxic NK cells and antigen-presenting cells in contributing to vs protecting against severe disease. Experience in viral immunology APC biology and bioinformatics is desirable.
