Background
In the realm of software development ensuring the reliability and security of programs is paramount. Quality Assurance teams play a crucial role in ensuring that products and solutions meet high-quality standards including the security aspects.
Fuzzing involves feeding unexpected input to an applications API to uncover unexpected consequences. As the complexity of modern systems grows so does the importance of efficient fuzzing techniques. The issue with many fuzzing tools is not the false negatives (that the tools do not find all the problems) but rather the falsepositives leading to users of the tool being overwhelmed.
This thesis project aims to investigate the benefits of centralizing fuzzing efforts explore if a unified approach can enhance efficiency reduce redundancy and strengthen the overall security posture of software with extra focus on the usefulness of the tools and result.
Goal
- Investigate open source tools that could be used for fuzzing APIs on embedded devices
- Benchmark the performance features and usability in thedifferenttools
- Implement an effective way of doing fuzzing
- Investigate thepossibilityofAI enhanced fuzzing

For this thesis proposal we target students with an interest for security testing. Most likely you are studying computer security or computer science.
