Field Supervisor - New Installations & Modernizations

Your main responsibilities

The New Installations & Modernizations Supervisor is responsible for the installation of new construction and modernization projects through conforming to customer and company requirements as related to quality improvements safety cost improvement and customer satisfaction in support of Branch and Region objectives. He/She has responsibility for managing coaching and training field employees as well as health and safety requirements.

Safety and Supervision

  • Lead field employees through providing mentorship guidance and constructive feedback to promote employee development
  • Coach and persuade field employees on Schindlers methods of safety quality and productivity
  • Identify training needs and deliver training (safety & technical) to field employees
  • Monitor work of field employees from both a quantitative and qualitative point of view including approval of time tickets and maintenance of vacation schedules
  • Investigate employee incidents and near misses and support early and safe return to work initiatives. Conduct regular safety observations and ensure correct usage of PPE

Financial Management

  • Manage new installation and modernization work in area of responsibility within framework of financial budget
  • Manage Mechanic and Helper manpower to maximize business results

Process and Quality Management

  • Monitor job completion check points and implement required corrective action in order to drive installation and modernization performance to BDP model and meet ISO standards
  • Ensure each installation and modernization project meets Schindler employee and passenger safety and quality standards and all contract requirements as defined by customer
  • Ensure compliance with requirements issued by local and government authorities
  • Manage ongoing program of project field audit to assurance conformance of performance standards of quality completeness and safety.
  • Evaluate and initiate requests for tooling where such tooling would support productivity improvement

Customer Service and External Relations

  • Interpret customer concerns and mobilize the necessary internal resources in such a way that customer satisfaction is assured while costs are minimized
  • Ensure customer needs or enquires are met in a prompt professional manner by providing clear communications.
  • Demonstrate to customers that they are receiving fair value for their expenditures
  • Communicate with and influence business agents inspectors etc. in resolving disputes
  • Maintain and manage pro-active relationships with Union business agent

What you bring

  • Post Secondary preferably in Engineering or Project Management
  • 3-5 years in elevator industry or related experience or a similar industry which includes the supervision of capital equipment installation
  • Excellent leadership skills and demonstrated ability to solve problems
  • Ability to coach mentor and guide team members
  • Strong communication skills organization skills and ability to work without supervision
  • Self motivated team player with record of achieving results
  • Work flexible hours as business demands
  • Computer literacy MS Word Power Point Excel Project
