WSIB/DISABILITY MANAGEMENT COORDINATOR

Location: OCDSB Administration Building; 133 Greenbank Road Nepean ON
Position Status: 1.0 Regular Full-time
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday 35 hours per week
Affiliation: Union Exempt
Salary range: $85231 - $100231 per annum (Union Exempt Level 6)


Job Summary

Under the direction of the Team Manager Employee Wellness the Coordinator of Workers Compensation (WSIB) and Disability Management is responsible for short and long-term disability case management and workplace accommodations for non-occupational injuries/illness. The Coordinator also manages workers compensation claims (WSIB); reviews investigates and confirms accident reports; monitors ongoing claims; and represents the Board at hearings and Appeals Tribunals. The Coordinator coordinates the return to work process by developing suitable modified work plans work hardening programs and Individual Accommodation Plans and ensures understanding of the processes for medical leaves accommodations and WSIB legislation by all stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Post secondary diploma in Human Resources Psychology Kinesiology Occupational Therapy Disability Management or a related field of study and 3 to 4 years of experience in WSIB and disability case management in a unionized environment;

  • One or more of the following designations would be considered an asset: Certified Disability Management Professional (CDMP) Certified Return to Work Coordinator (CRTWC) Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) or healthcare professional designation (R.N PT O.T C.O.H.N);

  • Knowledge and familiarity of employee well being initiatives and best practices;

  • Knowledge of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act and Regulations Occupational Health and Safety Act Ontario Human Rights Code Employment Standards Act and Personal Health Information Protection Act and procedures;

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) required in order to respond clarify or request pertinent information and for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships;

  • Interviewing skills and techniques as well as ability to resolve disputes is an asset;

  • Organizational skills including time management techniques for planning and organizing work demands and priorities;

  • Ability to function effectively under pressure and time constraints;

  • Initiative and judgment skills required in order to work effectively with minimal direction & supervision;

  • Proficiency in computer applications including word-processing spreadsheet database email and other computer software programs; experience using Parklane is an asset;

  • A high degree of tact and discretion when dealing with confidential and sensitive personal information. Ability to demonstrate compassion when working with upset employees;

  • Access to reliable transportation when required to visit schools and OCDSB sites.
