Job Description
The Role
McInnes Wilson (MCW) has a strong reputation in the legal industry as a leader in commercial insurance private clients and plaintiff personal injury legal services. With our 50-year milestone approaching in 2025 it couldnt be a more exciting time to join us. MCW is looking to appoint an Accounts Officer to work within our Finance team and be a key player at the heart of our operations.
Based at our national head office you will play a pivotal role within our corporate services function processing the financial transactions of the company (and subsidiaries / related entities) and meeting certain reporting obligations.
You will have wonderful exposure to a broad finance function hands-on support and career development with guidance from our Finance Manager and CFO as well as direct collaboration with the broader team.
Responsibilities
- Assist with general financial accounting duties including the general processing of financial transactions and journals
- Support billing functions including charge-out rates invoice adjustments and disbursements
- Ensure controls and processes are followed and required audit trails exist
- Maintain appropriate record keeping and filing
- Assist with period and year end processing
- Provide support to the accounts payable function
- Ensure timely processing of credit card transactions
- Maintain petty cash and cheque payment processing
- Provide back up to the Trust Accounting Officer in relation to processing trust transactions
Requirements
We welcome applications from candidates wanting to take the next step with their career and step into an Accounts Assistant role as well as candidates who have direct prior experience. You could be studying your degree or looking to gain direct corporate experience.
- Year 12 or Diploma/Degree in Accounting or related discipline
- Entry level relevant experience in an accounting finance or administrative role is preferred
- Have proven experience working both individually and as part of a team
- Have strong strategic thinking analytical and problem-solving skill
- Strong time management and organisational skills.
