Job Title :Direct Support Professional Awake Overnight Department:Residential Services Hours:Sun-Wed 10pm-8am Thurs-Sat 10pm-8am Position Overview:Provide awake overnight supervision of assigned individuals including check every hour. Essential Job Functions: - Read and sign off on all individuals Personal Center Plan nursing care plans 45-day nursing assessment sign off behavior plans emergency preparedness diet book demographic book and House Book etc.
- Dispense prescribed medication according to current state regulations and document on approved agency form and/or I-CARE. Must be a CMT to administer medication.
- May require routine checks to include vital signs such as temperature blood pressure and bowel movements.
- Participate in all DDA and agency required trainings. Employee must maintain trainings to ensure all trainings are current and follow OHCQ regulations.
- Housekeeping tasks to ensure the general cleanliness of the home and good sanitation of bedrooms and kitchen areas. Complete cleaning checklist.
- Launder individuals personal clothing if that individual is unable to complete the task.
- Guide and assist individuals to learning to live and function as independently as possible in community.
- Provide direct care interaction and supervision of the individuals inclusive of all daily needs (meals grooming personal needs transportation recreation leisure medical and medication administration)
- Treat individuals with dignity and respect at all times including providing opportunities to engage in decision making constructive activities and habilitative services to the extent they are able.
- Ensure appropriate clean and neat attire for out of the home activities and programs and assist residents in toileting and other personal care needs.
- Hourly documentation and hourly observation for each individual in the residence.
- Check and respond to emails daily to maintain proper communication
- Monthly fire and evacuation drills are required to be documented on the I-Care system.
- Monitor each individual to ensure health and safety during the night
- Call 911 immediately for any emergencies
- Communicate pertinent information about individuals status to the next shift staff and report any issues or concerns to your immediate supervisor
- Conduct self in a professional manner at all times when interacting with individuals. neighbors parents advocates consultants and regulatory agency personnel
- Take direction and maintains effective working relationships with agency staff.
- Complete and maintain required trainings in accordance with DDA/State/Company regulations. This includes and is not limited to CPR/First-Aid the Mandt System certified medication technician course and regular recertifications.
- Provide transportation via company vehicles to supported persons. DSP must have current Drivers License and meet the agency driving requirements.
- Staff will be required to utilize agency electronic systems for communication time and attendance progress notes incident report filing etc.
- May require some or daily driving as needed by the home
- Other duties as assigned by House Manager Operations Manager or Division Director
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) Training and Experience: Preferred DDA core competencies Mandt Systems Training CPR / First Aid MTTP Experience working with people with IDD/DD preferred but not required. Physical Requirements:Person must be able to walk stand and sit for up to 8 hours. Person must have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. or more based on assigned supported person (using health and safety lifting / turning techniques or assistive devices). Person must be able to successfully demonstrate all Mandt Systems training physical interventions and techniques to include assisting supported person to standing providing assistance with ambulation physical releases and physical restraints.
