We are currently looking for a Vice Chair for the Department of Pharmaceutical position supports and assists the Department Chair of Pharmaceutical Sciences and departmental faculty in achieving individual and collective initiatives. This is a non-tenured faculty position with administrative workload. Responsibilities of the position include: The following duties & responsibilities are in addition to the baseline faculty expectations in terms of service teaching and scholarship with an alteration in percent effort to include an administrative component. - Provide leadership and mentorship for the Department faculty in collaboration with the Chair. Meet regularly with Chair and maintain open communication. Carry out regular chair functions in the absence of the Chair.
- Work closely with Chair and relevant parties to help in the advancement of facultys capabilities through faculty development activities.
- Assist the faculty in taking advantage of opportunities for scholarship and in creating scholarly collaborations.
- In collaboration with the Chair work to fulfill the departments strategic initiatives and departmental goals and to annually develop the departmental budget.
- In collaboration with the Chair and Office of Academic Affairs and Assessment work to advance student learning and enhance faculty instruction and instructional effectiveness for the Department. This may include reviewing faculty examination questions and lectures syllabi faculty evaluations of teaching on a quarterly basis course evaluations and action plans in conjunction with course coordinators on a quarterly basis.
- Assist with faculty recruitment and retention and will help oversee interviewing all faculty candidates.
- Assist in orientation of new faculty and residents.
- Assist in the assignment of workload.
- Has an open-door policy and all faculty should feel free to discuss any concerns regarding their positions and the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements of the position include: - Faculty member within the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences
- Rank of Associate Professor or higher.
- Cannot already hold another title of Director or Coordinator without prior approval.
