Job Description

TITLE: Data Processor/Field Coordinator

REPORTS TO: Director of Child Nutrition

APPROVAL DATE: December 21 2023

JOB GOAL

To facilitate improved performance in kitchens by providing on-site leadership and mentoring to CNP staff in order to promote consistency in CNP practices throughout the district and ensure the provision of high quality nutritious food service that meets established CNP regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of high school diploma/GED; associate or bachelor degree preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in food service operations
  • ServSafe certified or ServSafe certified-eligible
  • Proficiency in computer application (word/data processing) and the operation of standard office equipment
  • Operational utilization of child nutrition software
  • Eligible for Mississippi Managers Certificate through MDE
  • High level of interpersonal skills
  • Complete fingerprinting process administered by the District
  • Must pass background check prior to employment
  • Accounting experience considered a plus

The duties include but are not limited to:

  • Delivers training to the child nutrition staff in groups or individually to provide new hire orientation skill development and demonstrate approved procedures for food and recipe preparation cash handling food safety etc.
  • Observes assigned kitchens and trains and gives technical support to child nutrition staff
  • Ensures proper procedures are followed for purchases deliveries and inventory; may assist CNP managers as needed in contacting approved suppliers distributors and vendors to gain information and resolve issues such as recalls expired goods quality concerns substitutions cancellations etc.
  • Work with child nutrition managers to assess staffing needs and coordinate work schedules and duties to ensure sufficient coverage for each work shift
  • Coordinates software support to assist managers and cashiers with point of service software questions and computer hardware issues
  • Ensures collection equipment is operable. Installs new hardware as needed due to outdated or non-working equipment
  • Updates the child nutrition website as needed and works with developers to have up-to-date information available
  • Provides field support for cafeteria managers
  • Serve as district health council coordinator and ensures compliance with the MDE Office of Child Nutrition guidelines at the school level. Those guidelines include:
    • Each school health council will meet three times during the academic year
    • Develop a school health council team
    • Keep signed rosters and minutes of each school health council meeting
    • Update the school wellness policy regularly and make easily accessible
    • Principal to provide an wellness update to the local school board annually
  • Files documents as daily work is complete
  • Attends meetings and trainings in and out of district as required
  • Strives for good public relations with customers co-workers supervisors and the community to increase student participation in the school meals program
  • Assists with free and reduced-price meal applications direct certifications imports and homeless imports as needed
  • Assists with inventory control of child nutrition department fixed assets
  • Checks receiving reports for accuracy
  • Assists office personnel with their duties when needed
  • Supervise special contract activities and special functions
  • Assists parents in meeting the needs for children with specific dietary requirements
  • Organize catering requests and events: assist with production and costing of events
  • Develops and implements community specific outreach plans and maintains strong partnerships with key community stakeholders to increase the capacity and engagement in the child nutrition program
  • Communicates with school staff about strategies for increasing participation in both school-based and community child nutrition programs and works toward the acquisition of benchmarks

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and analyze and interpret general business periodicals professional journals technical procedures or governmental regulations; Ability to write reports business correspondence and procedure manuals; Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators staff and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts interest commissions proportions percentages area circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to sit talk or listen. The employee is occasionally required to stand walk reach bend and sometimes lift up to 25 pounds. Mobility skills are necessary to access a variety of work locations.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES

Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific fields. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students staff and the community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee will work in an environment adhering to school board policy. This position may require work hours that vary as a result of evening activities or emergencies. In addition job requirements may require work on weekends holidays and attendance at meetings.

Breach of said professional conduct includes but is not limited to: neglect of duty dishonesty and engagement in acts that are contrary to VWSD policy unlawful activities or any other conduct which is seriously prejudicial to the school district.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on evaluation of personnel.
