Position: Senior Data Protection Administrator
Location: Canberra ACT
Estimated Start Date: ASAP
Duration: Approx. 12-month contract with potential to extend
Hourly rate: $140 - $160 per hour plus 12% super
Job Overview:
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Senior Data Protection Administrator to design manage and administer Backup infrastructure used by government agencies and Whole of Government hosting which includes operation of a range of backup and data storage technologies performing data recovery and disaster recovery planning. This role is perfect for a high-performing and professional individual who can provide high levels of support develop new technical solutions and provide mentoring to technical resources within the team.
Duties:
- Provide high level technical support in the current versions of the following products:
- CommVault version 11.x
- Oracle and HP Tape Libraries
- Microsoft Server Operating Systems
- Unix and Linux Operating Systems
- Associated Enterprise Server Hardware
- Microsoft SQL Server
- Azure and AWS Cloud Technologies
- NetApp Dell-EMC and Hitachi TCP/IP NAS storage systems
- Associated Enterprise Server Hardware
- Manage and develop Enterprise Backup Restore and Disaster Recovery procedures across various Windows UNIX Linux VMware and MS Hyper-V systems within a TCP/IP and Fibre Channel SAN environment.
- Develop new technical solutions and processes in accordance with design standards that best suit ACT Government business requirements as well as prepare review and maintain technical documentation.
- Work as a team member ensuring that the quality of service delivered to clients meets or exceeds expectations as well as liaising with both internal clients and external suppliers to ensure services are provided to the standard required.
- Provide support and mentoring to technical resources within the team as well as prospective partners and stakeholders.
Skills and Experience:
Essential:
- 3 years experience performing backup administration duties operating and maintaining an enterprise backup environment.
- Experience operating Commvault Backup and Recovery software (or re-badged offerings) would be highly advantageous.
- 3-5 years experience in industry developments relating to backup technologies and associated data storage technologies.
- Experience designing and managing Backup Infrastructure in a corporate hybrid-cloud environment would be advantageous.
- Experience operating in an enterprise data centre environment would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework or completion of the ITIL Foundation Certificate would be advantageous.
Desirable:
- Ability to consistently display commitment to high quality customer service principles and practices.
- Well-developed influencing and negotiation skills including developing and maintaining productive and collaborative working relationships with customers team members suppliers and other stakeholders.
- Applying specialist technical expertise to solve complex problems and design innovative long-term solutions.
