Location:The Lung Health Foundation is based in Toronto and operates in a hybrid model
in which staff are required to work at the office a minimum of two days each
week with occasional travel within Ontario and across Canada as required.
Salary range: $72000 - $80000

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Manager Programs & Advocacy plays a key supporting role in advancing the LHF mission to improve the lung health of Canadians. This position supports advocacy efforts related to lung cancer COPD and asthma while also contributing to the development and implementation of evidence-informed programs.
Reporting to the Senior Manager Public Affairs the Manager will help implement advocacy strategies that raise the profile of lung health influence public policy and improve access to prevention screening and care. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams healthcare stakeholders and people with lived experience to support impactful policy change and program delivery.
Key areas of focus include:
- Supporting the execution of advocacy strategies across lung cancer COPD and asthma
- Assisting with stakeholder engagement including policymakers clinicians and people with lived experience
- Contributing to evidence-informed program delivery and evaluation
- Helping ensure advocacy and program initiatives are aligned with strategic priorities and grounded in equity
RESPONSIBILITIES
Advocacy Support
The Manager will play a key role in supporting LHFs advocacy efforts to drive policy and system
level change across priority lung health issues. This includes:
- Assisting in the development of policy briefs backgrounders submissions and advocacy materials
- Supporting relationship-building with government stakeholders health system leaders and allied organizations
- Coordinating meetings follow-up communications and documentation related to advocacy efforts
- Engaging individuals with lived experience to inform and amplify advocacy priorities
- Conducting jurisdictional scans and monitoring policy developments to inform strategy
Programmatic Support
The Manager will contribute to the execution of lung health programs that complement advocacy
priorities and improve patient outcomes. This includes:
- Assisting in the planning coordination and evaluation of programs across lung cancer COPD and asthma
- Supporting program activities in alignment with equity principles evidence and strategic goals
- Collaborating with internal teams and external partners to support delivery of impactful initiatives
- Contributing to program reporting knowledge exchange and quality improvement efforts
Project Management Expectations
A core pillar of the Managers role is ensuring that both advocacy and program efforts are rooted in the best available evidence. The Manager will help bridge the gap between research and practice ensuring our initiatives remain relevant responsive and aligned with evolving knowledge. This includes:
- Conducting environmental scans literature reviews and jurisdictional analyses to identify leading practices policy trends and service gaps
- Helping translate complex research and data into clear actionable insights and recommendations for both internal and external audiences
- Collaborating with colleagues to ensure evidence is consistently integrated into messaging strategy development and stakeholder engagement

Lung Health Foundation Champion
The Manager will:
- Contribute to additional programs or initiatives based on emerging priorities
- Help grow and maintain LHFs network of clinical and community partners
- Support cross-functional duties aligned with organizational goals
- Assist in external communications and advocacy efforts including media engagement in collaboration with the Marketing and Communications team
QUALIFICATIONS
- A university degree in public health health sciences life sciences or a related field such as a Bachelor of Arts is required; graduate-level training is considered an asset.
- Minimum four years of experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Public policy advocacy or stakeholder engagement (particularly in health or government settings)
- Program implementation project coordination or public health
- Health promotion or community-based initiatives
- Respiratory health expertise is considered a strong asset
- Fluency in French is considered an asset
