Job Description
As a Principal Big Data Engineer you will:
- Design build and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines for ingesting transforming and processing large datasets using frameworks like Hadoop and Spark.
- Optimize and troubleshoot big data clusters for performance reliability and scalability.
- Develop and maintain data workflows using tools such as Apache Airflow and integrate machine learning models into production pipelines.
- Manage distributed storage systems (e.g. HDFS) and ensure proper data retention and replication policies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement best practices for scalable data infrastructure and stay updated with the latest big data technologies.
- Monitor data pipeline health proactively resolve issues and maintain up-to-date documentation on data systems and architecture.
Qualifications :
What would make you a fit for the role:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Data Engineering or related field (Masters preferred).
- 6 years of experience in data engineering or big data infrastructure.
- Proficiency with big data frameworks (e.g. Hadoop Apache Spark) and Python for distributed data processing.
- Advanced knowledge of SQL and experience with cloud platforms (AWS GCP Azure) for big data solutions.
- Strong understanding of data architecture principles and experience with CI/CD pipelines.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work with large-scale data systems.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
