Job Description

Site: Toronto Western Hospital
Department: Joint Department of Medical Imaging Interventional Radiology
Reports to: Operations Lead Interventional Radiology
Hours: Up to 24 hours per week
Salary: $28.24 - $29.13 per hour. Start rate non-negotiable.
Shifts: 5 shifts 7.5 hours each every two weeks Monday to Friday
Status: Permanent Part Time
Closing Date: June 5 2025

Position Summary

Interventional Radiology is a minimally invasive specialty combining diagnostic tests and therapeutic techniques. The interdisciplinary team is comprised of nurses medical radiation technologists interventional radiologists surgeons and anaesthetists who all work together to provide the best patient care.

Duties 

  • Assist under direct supervision with the mobilization of patients using correct techniques for patient handling specific to lifting turning and positioning; transports ambulatory and non-ambulatory (wheelchair-bound stretcher) patients. 
  • Directs and/or escorts patients in and out of procedure rooms 
  • Under sterile technique prepares procedure trays for Interventional Radiology Procedures 
  • Monitor and replenish inventory of medical and other supplies to ensure adequate stocks in designated areas 
  • Cleans/disinfects equipment supplies procedure patient and other rooms maintaining high standards of infection and safety controls to ensure a hygienic and safe environment 
  • Ensure adherence to proper infection control standards including but limited to hand hygiene use of personal protective equipment 
  • Participate in daily huddles and attend staff meetings  
  • Identify and escalate relevant safety issues for either patients or staff to the Operation Lead or delegate immediately  

Qualifications :

  • At minimum completion of high school 
  • Completion of a Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) program 
  • Ability to speak read write and comprehend the English language 
  • Demonstrated independence a positive attitude and the willingness to work effectively in ateam 
  • Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines in accordance to UHN standards 
  • Exercise initiative and good judgment with ability to multi-task 
  • Compliance with confidentiality requirements under UHN Privacy Policy 
  • Effective organizational interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Client service oriented with the ability to effectively work with diversity and appreciate that people with different opinions backgrounds and characteristics bring richness to the challenge or situation at hand 
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job required including: ability to stand stoop walk bend lift push pull and reach without any physical discomfort on a continuous basis; transferring patients with appropriate assistance; ability to stand for extended periods of time; ability to lift in excess of 40 kg 
  • May be required to work at multiple areas as well as rotating shifts in emergency situations
