Job Description

As an important member of the finance team this position is responsible for financial analysis and general accounting as well as specific responsibilities around accounting for fixed assets cash investments scholarships and bursaries and other areas as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Perform balance sheet account reconciliations accrual calculations and related accounting documents/schedules
  • Maintain cashflow analysis and execute regular cash and bank transactions
  • Generate monthly and quarterly reports including bank reconciliations investment schedules and scholarships and bursary schedules
  • Work with Registrars Office reports to account for tuition transactions on a regular basis
  • Maintain detailed schedule of fixed assets and accumulated depreciation
  • Prepare intercompany schedules and reconcile with related parties
  • Identify account discrepancies or errors and recommend corrective action
  • Compile year end summaries for audit purposes and provide information and analysis for year end as required
  • Support team members within the department
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications :

 

  • University degree in Bachelor of Commerce with a concentration in Accounting or equivalent
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in accounting
  • Experience in a post-secondary institution or not for profit environment would be an asset  
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Highly detail-oriented able to maintain accuracy under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Advanced knowledge of MS office suites including Word and Excel
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving knowledge and skills required to draft possible solutions
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • Strong administrative skills
  • Satisfactory Canadian Police Clearance document required upon hire
