Job Description

Harrison Western was founded in 1968 and has provided superior design and construction services to the mining and tunneling industries for over 50 years as well as providing geotechnical and other unique services to civil projects. Additionally Underground Infrastructure Technologies LLC (UIT) a division of Harrison Western is a full-service utility contractor specializing in trenchless technologies. UIT performs wet and dry utility installations utilizing both trenchless technologies and open cut excavation to complete projects large or small in multiple geographic markets. Headquarters in Lakewood Colorado we have completed over $2 billion in mining and construction development projects that range geographically from the Artic to the Andes.

We are looking for an experienced certified shotcrete nozzleman to join our crews in the field. This position sprays a wet or dry shotcrete mixture that is conveyed through a high-pressure hose/nozzle onto a designated surface.


Responsibilities:

  • Apply shotcrete mixture as approved by inspector engineer or supervisor at a uniform rate to ensure adherence of material to the treated surface with minimum rebound and maximum density
  • Apply shotcrete as per project specifications designs and procedures
  • Applies cement mortar or concrete to exposed earth masonry wood forms steel or other surfaces
  • Tends hose through which concrete or cement is pumped to fill forms and crevices or to coat surfaces
  • Moves and holds supply hose as spraying progresses using rope sling or harness
  • Drags screed over finished surface to cut and clean spots from surface
  • Cuts and squares corners using trowel
  • Assists workers engaged in erecting and moving scaffolds and in coupling and uncoupling pipe
  • Assists in application of reinforcement materials such as steel rods steel mesh and/ or fibers
  • Clean loose material mud rebound and other foreign matter from all surfaces which are to receive shotcrete
  • Attends and contributes to safety meetings and planning meetings when necessary
  • Other tasks assigned include mixing grout helping drillers chuck tending among other tasks to help the project


Qualifications:

  • Must be familiar with concrete pumping equipment and compressors and their operations and safety procedures
  • Must have working knowledge of forming grades and screeding
  • Familiar with basic concrete technology and the effects of all environmental conditions and any necessary precautions
  • General: walk stand sit use hands to finger handle or feel objects or tools reach with hands and arms sometimes with equipment in hand talk listen hear read see lift bend climb in/out of equipment climb ladders or forms
  • Lifting: 80 to 100 pounds at least one time daily or as necessary possibly several times daily Mining experience preferred
  • Drilling/rock bolt/soil nail installation preferred
  • Certification - Shotcrete Nozzleman certification through ACI (American Concrete Institute). A documented minimum of 501 hours as a nozzleman/apprentice is required
  • Must be able to travel extensively to different jobsites throughout the nation
