Pay rate: $90000 - $100000

Friends School is a Quaker co-educational college preparatory school Pre-K through Grade 12 in Baltimore City enrolling 740 students 44% of whom identify as children of color. Position Overview

As a member of the Friends School of Baltimores Advancement Office the Major Gifts Officer plays a key role in developing and executing strategies to identify qualify cultivate and solicit major and planned giving prospects with the capacity to make commitments of $25000 or more. This positions priorities are to deepen major gift prospects engagement with the School; and to secure major philanthropic commitments.

Responsibilities

Working closely with Chief Advancement Officer and the Advancement Office team to develop and implement donor cultivation strategies to secure major gifts funding for endowment capital projects key programs comprehensive/capital campaigns and special projects.

  • Actively manage a prospect portfolio of 150 or more individuals rated with capacity to give $25000 or more.
  • Conduct a minimum of 80 meaningful prospect encounters per year in person locally and nationally.
  • Engage in all aspects of gift cycle: identify prospective donors; initiate contacts with potential major donors; move potential donors toward solicitation and closure; and maintain stewardship expectations.
  • Prepare written materials including correspondence solicitation and proposal materials acknowledgements regular communications and move management reports.
  • Work collaboratively and cooperatively with the Development Office other campus faculty and lead volunteers to fulfill Friends Schools mission helping to meet its fundraising goals.
  • Lead the planned giving marketing program steward current planned giving donors and cultivate/solicit planned gift prospects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree. (Advanced degree(s); or fundraising certification(s) are a plus.)
  • Three (3) or more years of experience with major and/or planned gifts fundraising; and demonstrated experience in all aspects of development from prospect identification and qualification to face-to-face solicitation; from annual giving programming to event planning.
  • Strong interpersonal verbal and written communication skills including public speaking presentation abilities volunteer management diplomacy and cultural competency.
  • Experience developing and implementing a moves management system is highly desired as is previous capital or comprehensive campaign experience.
  • Demonstrated track record as a self-motivated action-oriented fundraiser and relationship builder with a sense of urgency in implementing major gift strategies and tactics who can think creatively and work independently.
  • Ability to create strategic major prospect cultivation plans with clear objectives goals tactics and benchmarks.
  • Strong technical and computer skills which include proficiency with Windows the Microsoft Suite Raisers Edge or comparable constituent/donor database. Experience with PG Calc or other planned giving programs is preferred.
  • Commitment to 50% of time away from office. Enthusiasm for frequent travel (both locally and long distance) and a willingness to work outside standard business hours is required.
