The Associate Vice President (AVP) for University Advancement has primary responsibility for the strategic leadership of the philanthropic revenue generation activities toward the universitys comprehensive fundraising campaign goals. Reporting to the Vice President for University Advancement the AVP will manage a personal portfolio of major and principal-level donors while also providing strategic direction leadership and oversight to Annual Giving and Donor Relations Leadership Gifts Major Gifts Planned and Estate Gifts and Foundation and Corporate Relations.
Required Education
- Bachelors degree required.
- Masters degree preferred.
Required Experience
- Minimum of seven to ten years of progressive experience in the fundraising field with a proven track record of successful solicitations leading and engaging successful fundraising and prospect development efforts.
- Demonstrated experience in successful solicitation of principal-level current and deferred gifts.
- Demonstrated experience in leading and managing high-performing fundraising teams.
- Strong knowledge of fundraising strategy principles practices and trends including major gifts annual giving planned giving corporate and foundation relations and prospect research.
Primary Duties/Essential Functions
Revenue Generation and Relationship Management:
- Cultivate relationships with high-capacity donors foundations and other key stakeholders to solicit current and deferred major gifts in support of significant philanthropic investments.
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive integrated fundraising strategy to maximize revenue generation across all channels.
- Provide strategic direction and oversight for annual giving major gifts leadership-level gifts planned giving and corporate and foundation relations.
- Collaborate with the Vice President and Executive Director to align fundraising priorities with institutional goals and strategic initiatives.
- Analyze fundraising data and trends including prospect research and development to identify opportunities for improvement and growth in pursuit of best practices.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress towards fundraising goals.
Team Management and Development:
- Lead mentor and motivate a team of advancement professionals fostering a culture of collaboration accountability and excellence.
- Provide coaching and professional development opportunities to enhance team performance and effectiveness.
- Recruit hire and retain top talent to support the universitys fundraising efforts.
- Ensure effective communication and coordination among advancement team members.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with academic and administrative departments to identify fundraising priorities and opportunities.
- Represent the university at external events and meetings promoting APUs mission and fundraising initiatives.
- Prepare and present regular reports to university leadership on fundraising progress and outcomes including prospect development metrics.

Compensation
- Grade 27: $163909 to $175000 is the annual salary for this role and reflects what Azusa Pacific University reasonably expects to pay for this position. Actual compensation may vary based on the qualifications experience and internal equity. In addition to compensation APU offers a competitivebenefits package.
